Class F shuttlecraft, PanAm

[The Rat]

The well known United Federation of Planets Class F shuttlecraft were reliable performers on Constitution class Starships
for many years, and a civilian version was also available for purchase. Pan Am was one Airspaceline which purchased some,
and they served well on routes within Earth's solar system.





Clipper Whistler was the first in service, and Pan Am had an immediate edge over its competitors in the areas of speed
and comfort. The later addition of panoramic windows led them into the sightseeing business as well as interplanetary
transport.



This model represents Whistler before the addition of the panoramic
windows, and as it served on the inaugural run from Earth to Mars.

This kit is not a very accurate representation of the 'real thing', but the general outline is unmistakable. The seats appear to be way too large for the interior, and the rear compartment seems too small if TV scenes are to be believed. But what the heck, after sitting in my stash for decades it's finally out on the shelf. The top hasn't been glued on yet, I may take it apart one day and do some more detail work on it. Front windows were removed and a sheet of clear Evergreen sheet applied, and the side door windows were drilled out and filled with Micro Kristal Klear. Everything else is stock, and the decals came from the Airfix Boeing 727-200.

Personally, I would not do intrasystem travel in on of those- no lavatories, and worse yet no beverage cart.
Hopefully you do not have a crying baby or a kid kicking the back of your seat throughout the entire journey to Mars.

LOL! One of the mods I was originally thinking of was turning the rear compartment into a lavatory, might get around to it one day. But since the Class F is warp-capable it shouldn't take long to get to Mars.
