I wonder if the King Tiger will be theirs' or someone else's?

I think I'd have preferred the Centurion being redone than yet another German tank...

Not too bad, nothing spectacular, but as alot of their new tools are left overs from last year there wasn't really alot of room for mor new spectaular kits. I noticed in their mag that their post Telford review has prompted them to hold back some new announcements for the 2012 SMW so we may see something big and special then as they were hinting at something special in the works.

Good move on replacing their Mustang, Me109E and Skyhawk kits in their series 1 kit range as those mould were getting tired, the Skyhawk will be appreciated for a Falklands version, its just a pity they couldn't do the Mirage III/Dagger but as High Planes/PJ are doing a new mould its nice for them not to upset the market. The Wooksta is likely to go gaga over the Spitfire F22 as long as they do their own and not a rebox of somebody elses.

The King Tiger will be a new mould to follow on from their excellent recently released Cromwell, as part of their WW2 Northern Europe range. I would have liked to have seen them do a Sherman Firefly in the same style as they could have used it as a basis for other Shermans or possibly redo their Churchill.

The Afghan housing is a nice touch for the diorama aspect of the new range, and i suspect we may see more of vehicles done towards the end of the year, now all we need is Meng to scale down their Toyota Pick up to 1/48th scale and add some talibani targets.

Only a gross? I'd have thought you'd have liked it more than that.......  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

That's just to start with, but TBH, there's a lot of F22s in the stash - two or three Pegasus, plus 2 boxed ones, several Ventura, 3 Airkit, 1 Legato (which interestingly has a pressurisation scoop!), 3 Xtrakit (plus one promised), I'm not sure how many AZ ones - possibly 4 but maybe more.  And 2 CMR.

There's already whinging about "yet another Spitfire" but I've some advice to these people regarding sex and travel.  We have desperately needed a mainstream injection Spitfire with the revised F21 wing for a long time (the Testors one was barely adequate for the 1960s and resembles a Frog fossil) and now we'll have one.

The Wooksta!

Airfix 2012 catalogue is now up:

http://www.airfix.com/2012/

This is the one I'm waiting for though:

Converting that to either an F24 or a Seafire F46 should be fairly easy - the former requires a hatch on the starboard side to be filled in, another rescribed further forward plus the cannons need shortening, whilst teh latter needs an arrestor hook section (I have a mould for that bit) and a contraprop.  Simples!

Right there with you Lee, even though I've got the Ventura kit built of it.  When I get it I'll compare it to the Eduard F.21's I have too, just to see how it stacks up.  Plus it has the tail variant that I prefer ---
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

The Wooksta!

The Eduard F21 wasn't their tool.  It was a repackaged Aeroteam kit with loads of etch and resin.  Plus Aeroteam had  copied the CMR resin kit.  It's got problems too - the cockpit interior doesn't fit (my last one I replaced with my own resin one), the wing is too thick and whilst you get the contraprop, you don't get the larger FXVIII rudder that the contraprop 21s had.  AZ and CMR's current 21s have the same rudder problem.

You can add my name to the list of those "whinging" about yet more Spitfires  (yawns!!) and other done to death already subjects like Mustangs and Bf-109s!! I'm just surprised they didn't include an F-16  to add to the yawn factor! ;D

Now, before anybody has a go at me, I would just like to say that even I am sensible enough to accept  the sound commercial reasoning behind the kit choices!! ;D. They just don't do ANYTHING for me!! ;D

As for the release list? Well, from my own point of view, the words I would use to describe it are lacklustre and uninspiring. Airfix will not be getting much out of me this year. The only items of interest to me personally are the Gnat, the re tooled A4-D and, the Valiant PR/Tanker set. Still, be a boring old world if we ALL agreed on everything!

I'd settle for a decent 1/72 Lightning or, Javelin or Phantom FG1/FGR2 over a Spitfire ANY day!! . ;D

Guess I'll have to continue fantasising about a 1/72 VC-10 as well!!
Loves JMNs but could never eat a whole one!!

I note the addition of a Swordfish with floats.  Should please some people around here a lot.  ;D
