The Wooksta!

Given that there were so few Mk XIIs, flown by only 2 squadrons and you only ever get 4 decal options at most (the Sword/Xtrakit and CMR ones anyway), it's not surprising.

From ebay:

2 x Pavla resin 1/72nd Folland ejector seats

1 x Artmodel 1/72nd MiG-23PD (the one with a fixed delta wing and lift engines)

The Artmodel kit is nicely moulded, but I suspect it has some accuracy issues. Can't say that bothers me personally for whiffing purposes, but anyone who wanted an accurate model of the PD might be disappointed:

1. The nose is too conical: more like a Mirage F1 than the full ogival radome seen on the prototype MiG,

2. I suspect that the front fuselage is too short: the intakes appear to be too close to the cockpit,

3. I also suspect that it should have a pronounced oval "flat" on the sides of the fuselage ahead of the intake.

......and Revell 1/72 Do17Z and 1/144 A10.....

Is the current Revell Do17Z the old Monogram kit or the old Frog one, the moulds for both of which are now owned by Revell?

Not sure....it's an old moulding that's for sure.....how would I tell....?

Good question........

The ex-Monogram kit has very, VERY fine raised panel lines, whereas the ex-Frog one is notably cruder. Needless to say I only have the ex-Monogram one to hand.

By an odd quirk of mould making any wing from the Airfix-Frog-Monogram version of the Do17 will fit any one of the other kits, which is very handy if you want to make a Do17-P1 or -P2, which I did once.

Well......it may just be the Monogram one....6x mg's with saddle drum mags....no wheel well detail....top wing is in one piece......minimal cockpit detail....and what looks like a solid plastic stand of the Games Work shop variety...

Apparently it's the Monogram tooling.  From what I've read, there's little to choose from shapewise with regard to the Frog and Monogram kits.

think this i'll have been my last 2012 purchase..... 1/72 kit wise

1/72 airfix airacobra

but i have a cunning plan for the russian option in this kit, gonna adapt it onto one of the 1/72
supermarine spiteful kits AZ models do, and think what could have gone to russia as war supplies if
the war in the far east had dragged on into 1947.  ;D

From Modelzone Trafford Centre:

Italeri 1/72nd AH-1/AB-47 for £4.00. Nice little kit with several variants and, suprisingly, two MG options for the skids. I'm thinking about a turbine version for hot'n'high: sort of a US/Italian equivalent of the HAL Chetak.

Italeri 1/72nd M163 Vulcan air defence vehicle for £6.00. Turret moulding a bit disappointing, not least because when I looked in the box, I realised it was the same as the "mystery" M163 turret that's been knocking about in my spares box since forever....

Oddly, both kits and quite a few others were also on the non-sale shelves at full retail, wheras in the city-centre MZ, all examples of a particular kit are either at sale price or not, wherever they are in the store.
