And so, the future of Earth is doomed by the Canadian Air Force.

Apparently.  But I'm sure it'll wind up getting retconned by JJ anyway.

Decaling is done but....since all the Canadian marking are homemade decals, they are much much thicker than aftermarket decals. (Had better luck than with my RAAF RF-104 decals) The edges are not feathered out like aftermarket decals. There is a sharp and noticeable step at the edge of the decals. In the pic below, you can see the sharp edges.

I cut the decal so that the rear edge is kind of hidden at the panel line but the top edge has to be fixed. So, here's how I fixed it. Decaling was done last weekend and all week long I have been slowly building up multiples coat of future (just brushed on) around the sharp edges. Once I had enough around the edges and was fully cured, I sanded the edges smooth using 3M Softback sanding sponges. First I used Ultra Fine(blue) then came back over it with Mirco Fine(Green). If you have enough coats of future on the edges, when your done sanding the edge should totally disappear. The areas where I sanded looks frosted but will be glossy again after I reshoot them with Future. Also I darken the panel where the elevator is conneted to the fuselage to help break up that all one metal color.

Until next time,

Well, not so dramatic and quiet the opposite indeed...

See:
Following their hairy escape from the crippled Klingon bird of prey, Kirk and his hard seasoned companions were rescued by a small village near Cold Lake.
People there originated from Canadian indians and were not surprized about their "unexpected visitors from the skies" and accepted Spock with high respect.......

While Kirk and Spock discussed the situation, Checkov glowing red to have been shoot down, Sulu wondering where he failed and Uhura blaming herself to not being able to link Kirk to the interceptors, Scotty raised the point that it was surprizing that a "prehistoric flying machine" shot down an intergalatic warp capable ship just like that! and drank another glass of the delicious local beer.
Spock accepted the point with his famous "remove impossible and what remains despite being improbable is possible" and Kirk agred.

Meanwhile at Cold Lake, RCAF gathered wreckrage of the space ship and marvelled about all the high tech they found.
Major Dan Cooper and his buddy Captain Jean Lafleur are in charge of the project code named "Thunderbird II". "Thunderbird II" is the second highly secret project about alien technologies in Canada.......

"Thunderbird II" ? Second ? YES !! Thunderbird is not ONLY a myth shared by indian tribes but a very very very old secret..........
That's what Kirk found out when his irresistible mojo seduced the local school teacher Liviana Charvanek who is the guardian of the tribe's history. Then Kirk and Spock found that ANOTHER space ship already landed on Earth. That is the village secret for centuries !!

Following some searchs and dodging the security patrols around Cold Lake AFB, Kirk and his friends discovered that RCAF has hidden the ship whithin a remote hangar .
And what a ship..... A Romulan bird of prey !!!!
As Spock found out the ship was gene-locked and struggled with Scotty to break the security protocols another astonishing fact arose: Liviana inadvertantly activated the controls to the most surprise of all, herself first !! McCoy examined then Liviana and found Romulan genes in her DNA !!!

Now alarm is resonnating in Cold Lake AFB, Kirk and his mates succeed to escape in the ship with their precious and fragile cargo: the humpback whale.

Major Dan Cooper, as pilot, and Captain Jean Lafleur, as RIO, decided to give chase to the escaping ship in the all new RCAF interceptor: the CF-210 (YES !! YES !!! a CF-105 Off-Spring !!)

But Major Dan Cooper is an Officer and Gentleman to the core and Kirk a outstanding Officer and a rightful man so from their short opposition, both of them developped respect.
This time, Uhura managed to link Kirk to Cooper, an intense discussion took place between Kirk and Cooper at Mach 2 speed.
Both managed to understand each others. Cooper, who understood the situation a little bit furthermore than his superiors, released pressure on the chase with the agreement of Lafleur, leaving Kirk and its mates able to hit Warp speed and to escape.

Landing at Cold Lake and being arrested by MP guards from orders by glowing white hot Generals, Cooper tried to protect his buddy Lafleur explaining that as pilot and project CO, he is only the one to be blamed but Lafleur said that a true buddy never let his friends alone.
In the MP jeep, Lafleur with a blink of eye and a friendly and most satisfacted smile said to Cooper that he has got the ship locked and aimed and confirmed by 3 missiles exactly 8.6 seconds after they took off............................. The CF-210 is a darn superb hot-rod. True blood never lies !

Great model, great story!  That story line would have made the movie so very much more interesting.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
