The Wooksta!

For a unit, pick one of the 100 Group squadrons that operated the Liberator or B-17.  Would make some kind of logic, although if it's a 1945/46 aircraft, I would have went for Med Sea Grey uppers as they were heading that way and indeed did post war.

Spent the last couple of days fixing the wing fit issue, added the filler, smoothed off and then painted the area. Sorted!

Tonight I started work on the turrets and while I was waiting for them to dry I added a few RAF markings. I think it looks `at home` in them.

Todays update,

......most of the turrets are now in place with only the nose and bottom turret to be put in. I also dealt with the issue of head on attacks, (or if this aircraft was lucky enough to find itself behind an enemy aircraft), by adding a couple of 20mm cannon fixed in the upper nose section.

Seeing that last picture there, it just struck me that the underneath portion looks like a mounting point for a FLIR type thingy, which lead to the thought of a Privateer in Vietnam colours, a sort of trials machine if you get my drift?

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Sounds a good idea Kieth. It would go well with my Korean War `AC` version. A nice time line if you ask me.

Last update of this weekends work. Pretty much complete now with the front turret now in place. A bit ugly, but seen worse.

The `lumps and bumps` were added. The props are in place for the purpose of the photos and still need some work. The underside .50 cal barbette is in place, (in the down position), and the operators dome attached just behind to the rear.

Need to do a few touch ups and add some matt varnish after attaching a few more decals.

Well done!

It is not too far fetched. RAF actually experimented with Wellington with a 40mm turret as a bomber killer. Obviously Privateer would had been better.

I would not call this beast a fighter though. It is a new type called "Cruiser" perhaps? :-)

Have thought of a nickname for this aircraft given by the crews but to be honest I want it to just be known by it`s designation, NF.4 Y-2.

Pretty much calling this one done now. Added some `top secret` black box antenna to the vertical tail and forward fuselage.

A couple of touch up`s needed that I noticed tonight and then, this weekend, I`ll get some better daylight pictures done with the backstory.

Well done TC, and as I said elsewhere, I'm glad (i.e. relieved) that the turret idea worked out!
