A massive box arrived this afternoon and inside is the 1/72 Airfix 11050G BAC Aerospatiale Concorde with  3 different versions of British Airways decals, paints, glue , brushes and a 36 page instructions manual.
' To Whiff or not to Whiff that is the question.'
One thing I have noticed in the instructions is that they don't give the option of a cranked nose although the parts are there.
I can't start this build as I have too much on at the moment.
It will go into the long term kit pile.

Actually, the drooping nose is a working feature on the kit. At least it is on the one I have (only I'm not using that nose at all)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Thanks for the info

After many months of tinkering the 1/72 Mach 2 Sud Caravelle is now entering the PSR stage. The cockpit has been replaced by the resin Cammett BAe Nimrod AEW forward radome, the wings replaced with1/144 Boeing 747 100 without the landing gear and engines, the rear has the second radome from the Cammett kit and the vertical tail replaced with the one from a Airfix Valiant.
This looks out of proportion at the moment but with the two 1/48 TF33s placed right at the top of the vertical tail make this look correct.
The windscreen from  the Anigrand Martin SeaMaster fills the space at the front end, once it's cut to size.

Finally three days off this week, but not consecutive days. Lots to do.
I might even get to finish the 1/144 HP Sentinel (Revell 1/144 Boeing 747 with the wings from a 1/96 HP Victor, both started secondhand kits with parts missing).

TheChronicOne

I hope you do finish that, as it sounds glorious!  Love them Victor wings. . ..

I've been recycling the 1/72 Airfix BAe Nimrod with the wings and engines from the Hasegawa Lockheed P-3 Orion and added a hull from the spare Revell Blohm and Voss BV222 A  Viking. I'll be adding the floats from a Hasegawa Shinmiew PS-1 and beaching gear.
The engines are just clear of the waterline, it looks good with the Rotodome from the Grumman  E-2 Hawkeye.
The interior of the Viking will be used on the vacform kit.

As there's some interest in the AW Argosy I might as well dig out the gunship version I attempted to build using the 1/72 Mach2 kit.
I might just have some spare parts from a C-119 or C-130. I've been keeping the Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2 for a rainy day. So that's the wings and engines taken care of.
There's a replacement set of mini-guns for the AC-47 so I can use these but not in the AC-119 layout as I will be using the two fuselage halves of the Airfix Catalina.
This was reduced in size to fit the Lockheed Constellation, but I think I cut too much off. Still the landing gear will come in useful.

As for the Shackleton, I have plans to use the Airfix Avro Lancaster BII wings, turrets and bomb load.

Hopefully the workbench should be a clearer by Easter.

1/72 Lockheed King Neptune, three turboprop engines, twin fins AEW.

'Eric the Viking' 1/72 Revell Blohm & Voss BV22 and the wings from the Airfix Avro Vulcan.

'Eric the Viking' and the 1/72 kitbashed BAe Sentinel.

Eric the Viking now has new landing gear from an Airfix PBY-5A Catalina.

McColm

Looks like I'm going to have to beef up the landing gear to take the weight of the build plus puty/filler. Perhaps a white metal set.
I could use the landing gear on the PBY-5 Mk 2A.

McColm

I must admit that the B-47 is on of those aircraft I promised myself that I would build but haven't got around to it yet.
I picked up a 1/72 kit ages ago on eBay at a cheap price and it's somewhere in one of my storage boxes.
I recently bought the FlightPath conversion set for the RB-47H again off eBay. I did try their own website but had problems with it.
As for the engines TF33s was my first thought as I was thinking of moving the cockpit from the top of the fuselage to the front.
There was a time when the Airfix Lockheed S-3 Viking was very cheap, so three kits for under a crisp twenty pound note but not anymore.
So I'll use the 1/144 Revell Boeing 747-100 engine cowlings instead. Although the wings from the 1/72 Revell Victor might work.

McColm

Progress so far has resulted in a major redesign in the positioning of the wings.
I have salvaged the box section from the Hasegawa Shinmiewa PS-1 and the wings plus engines & floats.
Where the Connie wings used to be, the amphibious landing gear will take its place.
This gives the aircraft a more Starliner feel, whilst keeping the character of the Connie.

McColm

I think I have all the major parts for this build.
Although it's not a DC-4 , I do have a 1/72 already built C-118 with broken propellers and broken tail, the gear is in the stowed position, painted in USAF MATS colour scheme.
The plan is to chop the tail off and replace it with the tail end from a Heller/Airfix Connie. Chop the front off and replace this with the glazed canopy from a C-97.
The engines will be replaced with turboprops.

McColm

I'm waiting for my 1/72 Italeri Boeing
B-52G to be delivered.
This will be turned into an amphibious flying boat, with the engines from the Anigrand Martin SeaMaster placed on top of the wings and the V-tail made from parts included in the kit. A raid in the spares box should supply a pair of floats for the wings.
If the SeaMaster engines don't fit, the kit engines can be used instead.

McColm

The Lockheed Constellation KC-121 T,
has the engines from the Lockheed P-3 Orion. The fit isn't too bad, I'm using the Heller 1/72 C-121 as the donor kit.
The resin refueling pods from Attack Squadron are a good fit.

Whereas the 1/72 C-118 is going to have the triple tail fins from a Super G Constellation, the engines will be changed and the upper fuselage will get the Hawkeye rotodome.

As to the 1/72 Boeing EPB-17F AEW float plane, this will get a larger vertical tail fin. Replacement propellers, for those broken off the triple engine layout.
