The mighty Thor Mk2.       31/12/2017

This is a kitbash in 1/72 scale that so far has used parts from the Airfix BAe Nimrod, Hasegawa Shinmiewa PS-1, worn out resin Cammett BAe Nimrod AEW radomes and the AMT  Northrop X/Y-B-35 flying wing.
The parts seem to blend in to each other so that's a plus.

I love it!! Mighty ambitious and I'd never even considered a flying wing as an airliner... brilliant!

Imagine the possibilities for liveries, too...  hmmmmmm..

The mega kitbash has had it's flying wing added. It's not from the AMT Northrop B-35 but the wings from the Airfix Avro Vulcan kit which I tried adding to the Revell HP Victor K2 which didn't work as well as I expected. So with the middle section of the Vulcan missing I have glued the two halves together and glued that to the roof.
It's a tail sitter at the moment but with an extra set of landing gear at the back should solve the problem.
Just in time to break out the 2 pack filler/puty.
Well it looks like I'm going to have to buy another Northrop XB-35 or XB-49. The Victor wings didn't work. I might try the resin Muroc 1/72 YRB-49 conversion set. There's an interesting article in Scale Aircraft Modeling January 2018, although Britmodeler David Newman has covered this build. As the cockpit area is going to be changed due to the seating the fairing cover makes sense.

The Northrop CB-35 passenger flying wing had risen from the ashes. From the pile of pieces comes my version.
I originally cut the bottom of the main fuselage to fit the fuselage of the Airfix BAe Nimrod and kept the pieces. By turning the B-35 fuselage upside down I have glued some of the seats from the Mach2 Sud Caravelle in the space. I shall cut out the wheel wells and fit seats in the space.
I'll experiment with clear fix on how big the ceiling windows should be.

If you remember the 1/72 HP Sea Victor AEW.3 that I almost finished but had to abandon due to finding a new place to live, then fear not. It lives in spirit in the mega kitbash. I've managed to fetal the wings from the Revell Victor kit on to the Airfix HS/BAe Nimrod fuselage. I'm going to have to use FOD covers for the engine air intakes and a different canopy glazing. The build still needs a ton of puty/filler for the gaps but it's taking shape.

I had a bit of a tidy up today and yes I can't find a thing, so whilst I go in search of parts for the current builds, there's one or more surprises in the boxes of spare parts under the bed and in the long term pile stacked above my wardrobe.
I think that I will need more filler :banghead:

TheChronicOne

;D ;D ;D ;D     May as well buy it by the tub.

And I know the feels on the other..... the point is to to tidy things up so everything will go smoother but then ya spend all kinds of time trying to find the stuff ya put away.  ;D  Half the time I just keep all my "current" stuff piled into a series of 4-5 various size kit boxes. Sloppy but works most of the time. I still lose things temporarily but that would happen regardless...

The Warrior Class amphibious flying boat 'Eric the Viking' has now been given the undercarriage from the 1/72 Northrop
X/Y-35 Flying Wing with tail wheel steering.
It will still get some lumps and bumps, but I have removed the radome from above the fuselage behind the cockpit area. I'll probably add a few more windows to give it that civvie airliner look, might as well use the wheel well doors for the amphibious look too.
Whereas the Majestic now has the B-35 flying wing fitted to the center section of the fuselage..The Spey engines have been replaced by the contra-rotating propellers in the kit. To boost the power there will be a pylon taken from the B-52D with two jet engines glued at the rear close to the V-tail.

It's hard for me not to start another build and yet the Avro Maverick float plane seems to be evolving into a cross between the other marks. I'm tempted to add cannon/guns to the Mk1 nose in similar fashion as the A-26 Intruder. Sort of
Bush-Shack rugged for the Australians and Canadians.

The Majestic; needs the seat backs fitted and painted. Engines built and nose wheel landing gear added. Gaps filled in and clear plastic for the sun roof.

I removed the landing gear from Eric the Viking, a little on the tall side. I think beaching gear would be appropriate.
Got some Milliput on order.

Eric the Viking/ Warrior Class flying boat now has the landing gear parts from the AMT Northrop X/YB-35 Flying Wing. It also has 3 of the 4 gun turrets; one above the cockpit and two on each side of the forward fuselage. I intend putting the fourth one at the rear. On top of the vertical tail fin is the rotodome from the Grumman Hawkeye E-2.

I thought that I would chance my luck and go down the path of car bodies from slot cars. The plan was to blacken the glazed windows and buy the axles plus wheels separately, putting a false floor.
Trying to source British/European tour cars in 1/24 scale is almost impossible but the smaller 1/32 scale is very popular,as you can get the whole car in secondhand shops. The used and abused are in my price range.
The Rover SDi caught my attention, I have seen pictures of the estate version but I wonder if they did a saloon/booted concept or two door convertible? I'll have to see how many I can get hold of.

I've used the Milliput to pack filler on The Mighty Thor Mk3 AEW, Majestic and Maverick builds so it's PSR from now on.
I'm tempted to use the filler on the Atlanta and Eric the Viking, which means all five can be ready for the paint stage.

Saturday morning and just got back from work. I can't sleep so I have removed the wings from the Sea Victor AEW and replaced them with the Nimrod set.
The Victor wings fit rather well on the Hasegawa 1/72 Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion.
I need the propellers to finish off the Grumman Foxhound. Based on the Grumman Greyhound with 4 turboprop engines and a T-tail.
I'll see if the Heller Boeing E-3A/E rotodome fits the B-36 tomorrow.
I'm testing Wilko superglue, this seems to be miles better than the stuff from Poundland.
I doubt if there will be anything finished at the the end of this month but I hope one or two builds might make it to Whiffs 2019.
