Hi Guys,
Just as I've got my finances sorted out, I find that my Landlady has put in for retirement and wants to downsize. Which means I have to find new digs. I've looked on line for storage and there are a few places that offer the rates I can afford.
Short term solution find a B & B and start looking for a single room in a shared house.
Everything is on hold for now, as I have until the end of the month to move out.
Good thing most of the remaining stash is in large plastic storage boxes, a trip down to Argos should do the trick for my other possessions.
I'll keep you posted,

Steven

Thanks,
Got most of my possessions and the stash packed up in plastic 45L storage boxes. Its amazing how much stuff I have to shift.
If I can get hold of a man-with-a-van then everything can come with me in one move.
I'll cut the propellers off the Neptune and Connie Francis otherwise they will break off. I can reglue at a later date.
Loads of great programes on Quest TV.
Been on the prowl for a 1/24 Triumph 2000, thinking of a Stag conversion.

The packing continues and I keep finding kits that I have forgotten that I bought. The biggest so far is the Monogram 1/48 B-29, not too sure if all the parts are there, but it dwarfs the Airfix 1/24 Spitfire VB. (The rudder is broken on the Spitfire).
Hopefully aftermarket kits should help/kitbash into a worthy Whiff.
Found an 1/72 Airfix RAF Launch in amongst the 1/72 Lifeboat and SeaKing kit.
Almost done on the stash side of things, just need to pound the pavement over the next few days and arrange the move.

McColm

Been trying to save up for  deposit, but without any success. So I opened a new bank account, my wages will be paid directly. The stash and a few possessions are going into storage. I will be staying in a cheap hotel until funds are available.
Keep finding 00/Ho model train set parts and old Meccano Dinky Supertoys  which have seen better days. Must have bought these as a joblot. As they are farm equipment, Barber-Greene Olding Elevator Loader 964, yellow and blue paint, three tyres, orange painted open top LandRover-well played with example, all metal level crossing-single track with working gates. Tinplate Royal Mail carrige with working parts.

Another bank holiday and to cheer myself up the Nottingham Hill Carnival is on my doorstep. Won't be able to watch any telly with that Police helicopter buzzing around.

McColm

Been trying to put off the last of the packing but as Thursday looms ever closer Wednesday seems to be a late nighter.
Hopefuly October will see me Whiffing again. Rebuilds of started projects. This time one at-a-time until finished.
Great work on this site and the ideas keep flowing. The Grumman E-1B Tracer using the Falcon Triple conversion looks ideal as I can use the remaining parts on my other builds.
The B-97 bomber based on an Academy C-97 looks promising as I've got all the parts. It will be good to try out my mini-drill.
There must have been AEW versions of the Lockheed Neptune, this will be added to my own AEW collection.

McColm

Well this is it, no whiffing for a month or so. Found some very cheap accommodation on line and the reviews are very good for a hotel. Trying to save up for a deposit for a room south of the river.
Work seems to be in turmoil, so I'll be keeping out of trouble until this blows over.

Got a couple of whiff ideas for the Shackleton, that's if I can remember where I put the parts. 22 plastic containers/crates.Just have to pack my clothes. Monday afternoon check where the nearest launderette is.
The Tall Ships are visiting Greenwich 5-9th September, worth a day out.
Take care,
Steven

Good luck with the move and the saving up for a deposit.

Thanks,
Most of the class of '79 that went to Reynolds High School, Gunnersbury Lane, Acton, London will be turning 50 in less than two years time. I was one of the youngest having my birthday in July. I stayed on a year to retake my O levels and left in the summer of '83.
Time flys by. Time to reflect, time to move on.

Hi Guys,
I'm staying at a friend of my sister. But could only take my clothes with me. Couldn't find a cheap storage place for under £160 .That's with the insurance they stealthily put on the price. So the remainder of spare parts and vacformed kits are at Park Royal recycling center.

This means one day not too soon the sound of Whiffing will be heard, two different aircraft with some parts swapped over. Feel free to build any of Whiff ideas that take your fancy.

A long road lies ahead, saving up for a deposit on a rented room has to take priority, for now.

McColm

I'm settling in well in a box room, was invited down to Greenwich on Sunday for the Tall Ships display. Saw the Cutty Sark . A bit of a disappointment in the amount of sailing ships that past by but the stalls made up for that.
Afterwards we went to the Union Jack Club in Waterloo for dinner. The food was good not too expensive.
Its the final day for the Tall Ships. Its all free unless you want a trip on one.

So it seems there are four themes to build:
Rat Rod
Doormobile
Grumman E-1B
Sea Hog

To balance this some sort of boat/ship. Having seen three tall ships maybe fitting a catapult to the main deck. Could turn the ship into an early steamer, keeping the sails.
At least these builds aren't to large. I still want to build a C-97 AEW perhaps in 1/144 . As to model railway perhaps modules would be a safer bet rather than a large layout. I know that they don't lead anywhere but with scenery and the odd cardboard kit or two will bring it to life. Dapol do plastic trains, maybe a whiff or two or to experiment on the rust effects.

There are mixed reviews on the Mach2 Grumman E-1, I guess if I stick to the cars first and then the Sea Hog. The rest will follow in time.
Falcon triple conversion also do the A-10B in vacform.
