Not much going on build wise, super glued vacform exhaust pipes cut from Gannet AEW on Proteus II. Sanded down fuselage trying to eliminate seems. Glued canopy, when dry tested position. Quite a lot of interior details can be seen. Got the etch set will start next week after painting.

Will start adding Hawkeye parts to Shackleton. Rivets still proud in some arears. Looking good as a twin engine version.

Been testing Shackleton parts on the Atlantic for lumps and bumps.
I think three builds is just about right at the moment. The others in the stash are a lot bigger.

To be built straight from the box apart from the vertical tail fin as another Heller Grumman E-2C Hawkeye Rotodome is to be glued to the upper fuselage. The tail fin will be cut to resemble the Grumman E-1B using the Hawkeye spare parts.

Whilst walking home from work, an idea to build my own version of the Be-42 Mermaid popped into my head. Having got the Hasegawa PS-1/SS-1 in the stash and knowning that the Airfix BAe Nimrod wings fit I was thinking along the lines of the B-47 wings and engines mounted above the wings or above the fuselage.
Alternatively by using the Valiant wings, as I've always thought that the Valiant Mk3 would have the Nimrod wings if it  had continued in service.

Having received my 1/144 vacform Griffin Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, couldn't help but notice the shape of the fuselage.
Although I have plans to turn this one into a jet flying boat with the aid of a pair of dh Comet wings. I can't help but feel the need to either source out another two vacform kits or buy the plastic models and use them as floats for either the 1/72 Airfix Super G or Heller range of Connies. I'm sure I will find as use for the spare wings and engines. Probably on the Comet or in the spare parts bin.

Haven't done much,
Sanding and filling on the Carlton. Those rivets are disappearing on the fuselage.
As to the Proteus II, main landing gear fitted from the Flying Boxcar. Its tall, nose leg is too short but is a good fit at the rear. Scratched built a rear dome from the spare parts bin. Just needs shaping, so filler-sanding-filler-sanding.
Going to use the paint guide from the Italeri AC-119K 18th Special Operations Squardon - Nha Trang, 1968 Super Sow, as the two exhaust pipes create a hog like horns and the unit's zap is an uncanny resemblance. 52-9982. Don't think I'll fit the auxiliary jet pods as I'll need them on another build.

Waiting at work for me were three boxes;
1/72 Airfix H.S. Dominie T.MKI
1/24 Tamiya Jaguar Mk.II saloon
1/25 MPC Daytona Transport Truck

The Jaguar had been started, engine built and painted, engine bay painted opalescent maroon. The carpet is red,although there's paint options for the body colour.
First thought Endeavor Morse, next thought a Bond car- machine guns, bullet deflector, tyre cutter, skis and ejector seat. Would need a Sun roof!

As for the Transport Truck, chrome parts. Probably buy another one for Whiffing.

Dominie might change the engines and decals.

Three more kits;
G.D.R. PlayFix Playmakers Tu-20 Bear
Hasegawa 1/72 P-3C Orion USNavy and CP-140 Canadian decals
1/72 Airfix BAe Nimrod

As the Orion will be getting the resin Nimrod AEW set the nose radome will be fitted to the Atlantic.
Could get another Nimrod and stretch the fuselage

 Been on YouTube and came across the ele MMent Palazzo motor home and thought I now know what to do with my Tamiya 1/24 Jaguar XJ220, just need to get my hands on a few Revell VW T3 Westfalia Joker camper van.
Must make a start on the dormobiles, I know there's got to be a "Real World" example somewhere. Must have been the military equivalent. Monty had his caravan so a tracked vehicle conversion could be worth while.
Half track vehicles I think would be better. The American M3 is a good example. Also seen Land Rover versions which opens up a whole new field of Whiffs both civil and military options.

I'm using the Heller 1/72 EC-121 Warning Star. Having cut the tail section aft of the wings and glued the two halves together. Whilst drying the front end was cut. The windows put in place and undercarriage nose wheel leg assembled. The middle wing cross section has also been glued. The wings are glued and will be assembled after the undercarriage has been added and spars put in place to strengthen the wings.
As you can't see a lot of detail through the cockpit glazing, a new cockpit from the spare of the Valiant kit will be used. I can then work out the nose weight. Just waiting for the plasticard to arrive, so I can cut the fuselage braces to line up for a better fit and extra strength.
As some of the parts were already broken a kitbash or raid in the spares bin to provide a suitable vertical tail fin.

I've changed the name to the Constellation Super Star on day two of the build. Yes there are mistakes in the cutting of the fuselage sections, but with the correct tools I should be able to rectify this. Hence the need for plasticard to fill some of the larger gaps. At the moment masking tape is holding the new fuselage sections together and I can say I've definately created something I can be proud of. There will be other builds of the Super Star using Heller and Airfix kits. As I've got a few leftover parts from the Shackleton and the Neptune a maritime version will be built. " Sea Star". Some of the fuselage panel lines line up. Won't know how much ground clearance there is until the undercarriage is in place.
The Boxcar has long legs, so does the Shorts Stirling which could be used in the bomber version.
This throws up a list of possible Whiffs;
MR-currently building
Tanker
Bomber
Airliner
Cargo/freighter
AEW /AWACS
Water bomber
Gunship
EW
Floatplane
Crop sprayer
Skis-Artic/Antarctic support
Special Missions
Recce
Nightningale
Plus different engine combinations.
Possible jet version ( wings off the Airfix BAe Nimrod might work this time!)
Different wings will be dry-tested.
