I'll be buying the odd Revell VW Campervan for the Dormobile conversions. Then Whiffing or kitbashing the leftover parts.

Work on the four current builds is slow but productive. Can't wait to put some paint on three of them. I've seen a 'leather and wood ' finish paint set and wouldn't mind experimenting on the Tamiya Jaguar Mk II and Revell Austin FX4 Taxi-possible "Woodie" or Rat Rod using the rust paint kits, dropping the wheelbase to its lowest level. Referb the interior and beef up that engine, side chrome exhaust pipes. Lower the roof.

Always thought that the Jaguar XJ220 should have had gull wing doors or removable roof.

The Revell Shuttle Carrier 747 is their old 747-200 kit with added bits for the Shuttle, so any add-ons for the -200 would work too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

One more week of overtime to go then two days off. Got to buy a new mobile phone as the present one is playing up. Also a camera or tablet might be better.
Then back to the old routine, must take a trip down to Hannants. Or Blue Water shopping center must be a model shop in there? As the nearest place is KitKrazy and I'll end up buying back my stash.

With the DC-6B maritime patrol aircraft concept on a recent topic, seemed like a good idea. Although this has gone off on a tangent as the mention of the DC-7 MR has taken over. Getting a decent kit of the DC-7 in 1/72 is feasible. The engines can be sourced from the Lockheed Constellation, the need for blueprints or 1/72 drawings are essential. In the real world the wings were based on the DC-4, whereas the fuselage of the DC-6 can be stretched. Depends if the British spec or American version is to be built.
Maybe the fuselage from the Lockheed P-3 Orion could be paired with new wings.

Captain Canada

Camera's are quite cheap right now. Then again, some of the newer phones have just as much resolution as a decent camera, so two birds....

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

If you took the Revell 1/72 Canberra and used It's wings on the Airmodel vacform Varsity that would look similar to the Vickers Nene.

Got the Mach2 General Dynamics RB-57F, thinking of buying the Airfix RB-57 and using the fuselage with the Mach2 kit. The tail will be changed , might go for a pair of CFMs instead of the TF-33 engines or use the ones provided in the EC-135N Snoopy.

The Heller 1/72 DC-6B Super-Cloudmaster arrived this morning. Just checked the parts.

Glued the wings to the fuselage of the Bristol Super-Moose. Squared off the wingtips to add the ESM pods from the Br1150 Atlantic kit. Will paint the inside of the fuselage windows black and add some plasticard to blank off the unused parts. Cockpit and nose doors to assemble. Will add the parts from the Airfix Lockheed S-3A Viking undercarriage to the fuselage.
ProteusII will get the Vietnam camo paint job with Ghost Busters decals.

The Avro Carlton has been given an olive drab finish, looks like an oversized B-25 Mitchell all it needs is a Eagle head or a Shark mouth painted on both sides of the nose. The glazed tail part came off so I've glued on a section from the Lockheed Neptune to create a MAD tail.
Did experiment with a SEA colour scheme on the twin tail, didn't work out too well going back to the olive green.

The Bristol Super Moose now has the Magna Mk21 resin nose, a deeper glazed cockpit (or will be when fitted) , Hawkeye tail fitted on top of cut down model tail. Both fuselage sides glued together, glazed fuselage windows painted black.
Need to remove seems and blend the new nose into the forward fuselage. RR Tynes to be fitted, considering using a pair of floats from the Matchbox He 115 Floatplane.
Never seen an AEW Floatplane before, that's not to say that it hasn't been tried out. A grey and green colour scheme seems about right as this could have come from a Bristol 170 freighter and updated.

Arrived this morning two packages;
1/72 Hasegawa B-47E Strato Jet
1/72 Revell Dassault Breguet Atlantic 1 " MFG 3 Anniversary"
1/72 Airfix Avro Vulcan wings left and right pair.

I've always wanted to build a maritime version of the B-47. I know it was used as a test bed for the F-111 nose and S-3 engines. My Airfix S-3A didn't come with any instructions so I could kitbash it.
The Atlantic will get stretched.

Repainted the Carlton using the enamel green paints in the six tin set by Revell. Olive drab, RM70 and RM71. Looking more like a modern USAF "European one" without the grey and black been added. The Falcon vacform EP-3C lumps and bumps set will be used. Just need to paint the Rotodome and base from the Heller Grumman E-2C Hawkeye. The Canadian decals off the Lockheed P-3C Orion kit will go well as they are a dark green. Still need to work on the cockpit and fit the wheels. Pictures to follow.

Still cleaning up the Bristol type 170 Freighter " Super Moose". Glued up floats, won't fit them until engines are in place.

1/100 B-52F arrived today. Instructions are in Japanese. Big kit, loads of ideas, previous owner started to spray parts. Put to one side for now.

Had an idea for the Armstrong Whitworth Argosy, by using a C-130 fuselage and adding the twin booms from the Fairchild AC/C-119 G/K kit. The cockpit could come from an Airfix Bristol Type 170 Freighter/ Superfreighter.
I know its not quiet the same, well the rear end loading ramp, engines and vertical tail fin would need changing. The Avro Shackleton Mk3 wing was modified, but I intend to kitbash the remaining part of the C-119 wing stubs and add turboprop engines from the Heritage Aviation Models Ltd range. The undercarriage will be based on the C-130 and the radome fitted to the nose. The C-130 glazing blanked over or plasticard used.
Seen the sketch in Chris Gibson Nimrod's Genesis of the Argosy ASW, although a maritime reconnaissance could be built with my spare parts after the Valiant and DC-6B are built.

Got a suprise this morning my 1/25 AMT Dodge Vantasy custom camper/low-profile custom pickup arrived last night.
Should work well with the MPC 1/25 Daytona Transport Truck and the Italeri Truck Accessories-set II although it's in 1/24 scale.
Going to see if the custom camper fits on the Revell 1/24 Austin FX-4 "London Taxi" and AMT 1/25 '59 Cadillac ambulance/station wagon- ECTO 1A Ghostbusters vehicle.
Fits both but need body work to blend in new parts.
The taxi would lose the front doors, the front windscreen would only remain from the upper bodywork. New wheels and loads of chrome. Need to source a new engine.

The Taxi could become a caravan rather than a motorized home, the engine bay would make a great storage bay or extended sleeping area. Might need another kit as a towing vehicle.

Been trying to build a Airfix 1/72 Bristol Type 170 Gunship. I've used the parts leftover from the Italeri AC-119K.
The Freighter windows on the left side fuselage have been cut to fit the mini-guns, not quiet the same layout due to the lack of tools but the general layout is there. The guns eat into the upper wing space, didn't notice this so I'm going down the Rotodyne/helicopter route. A combination of another Italeri kit the EH-101 using the undercarriage layout (these can be replaced with resin aftermarket kits).

Bought a new mobile phone from EE called the Rook. Added Flickr  to it.Account name is stevenmccolm681. I will read up on how to get my photos on this site.
Need to find my filler as I have glued the hull from a Short Stranner  to the Super moose.

With a cock-up in my wages, plenty of time for sanding, filler and sanding. Maybe a bit of painting.
The plan is to finish the Carlton and Proteus by September, with the two Bristol Type 170 Freighters ready for painting.
Work can start on the "Heavies" once the tea-trolley is clear. Well I haven't got a work bench and its ideal for storing the parts/kits in progress.

The Avro Carlton has now got a chin radome from the Neptune fitted where the nose wheel landing gear should be housed.
A flat nose and what looks like a large FLIR ( type used on the B-57 Night Intruder). The seem between the upper fuselage join is slowly disappearing, needs a final rub down.

Proteus, has had loads of filler , back end is almost symmetrical. Just needs nose wheel doors added and a crew ladder, exhaust pipe work and interior to be sorted.

Super Moose just needs sanding down, nose weight, glazing and wheels added. Need to work out engine positions.

Another idea for gunship Moose , have engines mounted above wings and stick to Viking S-3A landing gear. Jet Moose!
