The F-102 trainer had side by side seats and yet the F-106 trainer was a tandem layout.
GRand Models do a simple nose replacement for Meng 1/72 F-102 Delta Dagger or as in Scale Aviation Modeller International January 2016 Delta Dart TF-102.
Might fit other aircraft.

The Royal Artillery Museum is open on the 5th January, not too sure how long they've got left before the collection moves from Woolwich Arsenal. So I will be going back to visit .

Booked two weeks leave in January, going to visit Hogwarts in the snow and as a treat have a broom ride before the prices go up.

On the whiffing front, its the details that need attention. Etching and resin lumps & bumps.
Having recycled a few builds mainly for spares.

This year the inspiration will be to build from the stash. I did have a splurge impulse buy before Christmas with two Revell MTBs, Airfix Lancaster BII with resin RR Merlin VI engines and the later tail fins, the other set will be fitted to the Airfix Stirling.
Kept a few shoe boxes to convert into showrooms for the 1/24 & 1/25 cars for " Honest John's Car Lot". Finally got Fujimi garge  and equipment set.

Had a few requests yesterday as I cooked turkey for the first time on my own, came out very moist and delicious to taste.
A working model of a submarine with a video camera in the nose- bloke works for Thames Water checking the pipes.
The other request was a sailing/steam ship with a catapult launch attached to the deck.

Yup it's a fascinating museum. I love the experimental 1950's stuff, especially the 120mm ? Automatic mobile AAA gun ? Let loose your magazines in a minute or so and then a quick cuppa before the bomb drops !  The area's interesting as well, that part of London has always appeared to me to be stuck in a time warp - at least 20 years behind the rest of us
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Watching the car ferry from around the corner is fascinating and yet I feel a whiff coming on.

I've recycled the autogyro Beagel Gunship into the Bristol type 170 Rotodyne AEW.
As most of the heavy machine gun barrels have snapped off.
The MH-53 Sea Dragon landing gear and spares off the Airfix Sea King AEW kit have also been added.
Sort of alternative to the Fairey Rotodyne.
The Biffo keeps the twin RR Griffon engines and viper jets, with twin tail fins. All armament has been removed.
Could also take on the role of COD.
Part 2
I started out with "gun metal" but ended up painting the whole aircraft Revell 95 Stone. Which is patchy in some parts, looking rather weathered. I've sawn out what looks like a sliding door on the right hand side with an upper and lower guide rails. Will do the same on the left side of the fuselage and add a rescue hoist.
Wheels and nose landing gear to be fitted, rotor blades to be painted and decals . Search water radome and rotor blades won't be fixed due to transit between shows.

Finishing the started builds;
Biffo Rotodyne AEW
Sea Moose Amphibious AEW
Shackleton Turbo/Carlton twin AEW on skis
Jet powered Shackleton
EB-29 Wyton AEW 4 x turboprops
BAe Nimrod AEW & Tanker " Sky Guardian "
HP Victor3 AEW
Triumph TR8 hatchback ( lynx if I can get the crease out of the door panels).
Lockheed Proteus MPA

I've used two Airfix 1/72 Bristol type 170 Mk32 Superfreighter kits and spares from an Airfix Rotodyne for this build.
Basically  it's the two Superfreighters cut and glued end to end with  the Rotodyne stack in the middle to cover the join. The rear end cockpit  has been removed.  The front end cockpit  will be removed  and parts from the Matchbox  Westland Wessex HU.5/HAS.31 used instead.
I haven't  glued  the windows in place or done anything interior  details  yet only strips of plastic card to strengthen the joint in the new fuselage  (15 1/4 inches long without the cargo doors ). Will be adding a new tail section and changing the engines .

In the real world the Bristol  Superfreighter could  carry up to 3 cars and 14 passengers.
I think a military  version is best suited.

Just waiting on the primer paint and two pack filler/putty to arrive.
Definitely need a paint  mask for the stretched Airfix HS/BAe Nimrod. Base coat of gloss white from a shaker can.
Could use that on the amphibious sea moose.
The Boeing  YEB-29 Wyton AEW test prototype is still having bits added  to it. Early 1960s,western  version of the Tu-126 Miss.
No progress on the Carlton or the turbojet Shackleton.
Biffo AEW taking shape. Sliding doors on both sides of the fuselage. Sorting out wheels.
Proteus is becoming  more like an MPA, Shackleton white metals landing gear fitted.
No progress on the Victor AEW, but this is good thing as I need to clear some space.
After this lot cars and helicopters!
Although the Frightning V/STOL two seater may emerge!

I picked  up a copy as they had a V-Bomber special tribute.
There's also an article on the North American B-25 Mitchell,  however on pages 90-95 there's the Canadair C-54GM North Star 17515.
The closest kit in my stash is the Heller 1/72 DC6A.
The engines were four  1,760hp/1,312kW Merlin 622s.
I don't have these either but there is a resin engine  that looks similar. Future project.
There's  some  shots of the Coventry Shackleton.
Worth a read.

Got the 1/72 Mach2 Martin  Sea Master delivered today. First thought was the Be A40/42 Albatross/Mermaids but the dimensions are more like the smaller Be-200 Altair.  There are 1/144 kits but I haven't seen any in 1/72. Hence my attempt of  kitbashing something similar.
The Mach2 kit comes with a canopy which leaves a lot of work  to clean it up, as to the instructions - could be better.
I'll need to source a landing gear and I think I have a suitable canopy in the spares box.
The only real change will be the engines, a pair of CFM t urbofans or TF-33s from David J Parkins/DB resin.
Could use the Windows from the Rotodyne.

Only in span is the Seamaster deficient, and that's relatively easily sorted. The length is closer to the A-40 than the Be-200.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

McColm

I haven't tried my hand at an all resin kit yet, mostly conversions.
The plan is to build the Mach2 kit in a similar style to the Be A40/42 Albatross/Mermaid with landing gear and the Anigrand kit with the beaching gear. Might change the exhaust pipes to the BAe Nimrod.
Sort of Whatif the British had a go to rectify the faults. May open  up the weapons bay or  go for a water bomber version or create a rear loading ramp. Or even AEW which would look very impressive.
