Quote from: McColm on November 23, 2023, 03:51:35 AMI have received a letter from my former security company saying that as I haven't renewed my security licence due to my medical condition I therefore can't work for them until it is renewed therefore my employment with them has ended although their payroll department does have a copy of my recent sick note.
Well I have an appointment with my Universal Credit Work Coach on the 4th December, so I can ask the relevant questions if I need to sign on the dole.
Looks like I will have to amend my CV.

Have a chat with the Dole Office - do they call it that anymore ? before amending your CV. At the very least they will know the best way to incorporate your change of circumstances in it.

I agree with Chris, the Jobcentre (or whatever they call themselves this week) are much more likely to be helpful and supportive if you talk to them positively.    Have a note  handy of your current medical circumstances, and some thoughts about what you can do with these restrictions.    If you show you are reasonable, friendly and willing to try new things, they are much more  likely to help you.    Best of luck with this new phase of life!

Thanks I'm just waiting for the results of my Universal Credit Health Assessment, my doctor has given me a sick note that covers me for the rest of the year. I have looked at other jobs that are flexible and suited to my medical condition.

Friday 25th November 2023

Whilst searching online I have come across an advertisement for security officers to work at London City Airport for Miitie. It's a 12 hour shift comprising of 2 days 2 nights and four off or four nights four off. Closing date is 14 December 2023.
I can catch a bus or cycle if I'm successful, I've done Airport Security before at Cardiff, Stansted, Gatwick and Luton.
I think that there's a scheme through the benefits system that pays for my SIA Licence, well its worth a punt.

On the workbench, the famous five are undergoing various colour schemes all in acrylic paint.
The F-35XL has a red and grey scheme, flying prototype.
Harrier Hawk, green all over. I think this was an experimental colour scheme with the grey areas painted over.
The Marsh Harrier, two-tone grey. Humbrol 164 and 165.
Eagle Harrier, I haven't decided yet.
Panter-Harrier not sure but pipes painted silver.

Of the four four-wheeled Hornby carriages three have turned out well in the Hogwarts house colours, Hufflepuff needs touching up. I see that Metcalfe has introduced a few new 00 and N gauge card kits so I will be getting a few of these and a second controller for the second oval.

Definitely worth a punt. If you don't ask you don't get, to miss-quote my Grannie  ;D

Plus the willingness to look for work adds a few brownie points with the Universal Credit department,  I could receive a top up from them as the pay fall into the Low Wage category .

I was woken up by the flashing lights from a ambulance this morning, one of my neighbours has been taken to hospital at around 5am. So I have been watching YouTube and reading your replies.
If I am returning to work I will need to buy some hand weights so I can use an iron. I haven't done any ironing for over two years. Yes there's a launderette but I'll have to check out their prices. A hand held steam press might be worth an investment.

The Harrier Hawk now has 12 weapons pylons, 10 beneath the wings and a pair on top of the wings. I sanded on the green acrylic paint with fin grit wet and dry papers. I have attached the twin strakes to the fuselage for added stability.
The Mcdonnell-Grumman Panther-Harrier looks weathered as the Humbrol acrylic 164 paint has coverage is a bit streaky in places this wasn't intentional. So I'm leaving this alone.
The 1/24 Rolls-Royce Phantom Menace has a new roof from an old Bugatti ex-Airfix kit.  The 1/24 Batmobile Ute has a new deck and the Hornby 00 gauge  four wheeled carriage  S6339 has been painted in 407 BR yellow using Roots Rail acrylic paint.
Further sanding on my other builds will take place over the weekend.

Sunday 26th November 2023

I put the central heating on for the first time last night and woke up to the birdsong, there's a heavy frost. Yesterday was another first with the temperature in single figures and a windy day.
I finished watching the tv series Tulsa King with Sly Stallone, I hope there's another season. As for Top Gear, I think that they will bring back in a different format. I got to meet Jezza and James when James's car ran out of petrol in central London outside the headquarters of Rolex, the rear of the Army and Navy Club. Although I never saw them at the BBC Television Center, White City when I was there.

The push to finish my started builds is gaining momentum,l need to invest in some better paint brushes and rattle cans, plus decals. I too will be going down the starter set route or spare 'n' repairs/incomplete kits.
Some secondhand tools will come in handy for making the baseboard for my 00gauge model railway layout, that's if I haven't changed my mind again on the track layout.

Tuesday 28th November 2023

I received an email today from Kingdom Security, apologising for the pervious correspondence. The Permanent Colleague Centre was unaware of my situation and should have looked into this in more detail.
I have been sent confirmation of employment with Kingdom Services Group with effect from the 1st of June 2021.

On the workbench the 1/72 Harrier Hawk is undergoing some more kitbashing. The nose wheel has been realigned and there's a hump on the upper fuselage.

If you are a lover of microwave meals then Wiltshire Farm Foods is worth a try, you can either use the microwave or oven to cook the frozen food.
I have tried Oakhouse Foods but they won't accept my debit card and they are more expensive.
I have bought six meals and three desserts for under £45 with free delivery,  the Christmas Dinner pack has sold out. I've ordered turkey dinner for next week.

Yesterday I managed to get my hair cut and withdraw some money from the cash machine/ATM, I did take a breather up by the railway station. I did a little bit of food shopping and had some change from a £20 note.
Feeling tired, time for a nap.

That's pretty good news, nice one.

Doesn't say too much for the company's internal communications though.  :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I'm delighted to read this!   As Gondor says, let DWP know, and thank them for being prepared to help you.......a little positive feedback will make them feel good, too.

My mum did all her own cooking for nearly 80 of her 96 years  and was VERY critical of most microwave meals.   She did however rate Parsley Box  meals as "not bad at all"  and they had the advantage of being ambient temperature storage.   As I recall, the prices  and delivery times were reasonable.

Good to hear you will be going back to work as soon as the docs allow. Sitting at home all the time can get to your spirt and bring you down.
