I did that with two M'box F6s kits to make my 2 seat tandem F8 and it worked a treat.

Have I seen this one ? Can't recall....off to look !

It was my second Whiffed model, built way back in the mid-70s, so it never was posted on here.

Backstory was it was a stand-in for the Tornado F3 because of the problems with the radar.  ;D

It carries three Skyflashes, plus two 'winders on the starboard outer pylon, it has an extended, more cambered wing, an RWR system on top of the fin plus the lengthened nose of course. The canopy came from an Airmodel vacform Mirage 2 seater.

74 Sqdn. of course.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Great model, I always thought the Lightning should have carried the Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles.
Interesting use for a two seater.

Captain Canada

Pretty much exactly as I had imagined from your original description ! 74 Sqdn. of course  Thing of beauty I say. Very sleek. Love the weapons load as well.

I'd say if ever a thread hijack served it's purpose, this would be it.

Thanks Guys,
Anytime Kit as long as it is relevant to the topic.

If the Chinese got their hands on the TSR.2 this could lead to a new topic altogether.
What with Freightdog bringing out the 1/72 extended nosewheel leg, just need to get hold of a few Airfix kits.
Seaplane version with skis and floats.
V/STOL-lifting jets
Side-by-side two seater
Pint-sized (shorter fuselage)
Change the wing and air intakes (Mig-29 ish)
Forward VG-Switchblade?
Stealth version

This is me thinking out loud, if I took the wings and tail from the Airfix BAe Nimrod kit and added them to the Mach 2 Caravelle, I should end up with something resembling the de Havilland Comet. The windows will be a different shape, but everything else would depict a short fuselage of the earlier marks.

TallEng

Or you could remove the bottom part of the double bubble of the Nimrods fuselage
Re-shape the internal bulkheads to a round shape, and using the removed bits of
The double bubble and some plastikard produce a normal round Comet fuselage.
Which is roughly what I'm doing to produce a Transport version of Revells Atlantic
See here http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,27373.0/highlight,alternate+andover.html
For the (still) unfinished item.
The idea would also work for making a four engined Airliner based on the Atlantic; you'd probably want
Two kits for extra fuselage length and the other two engines, but it would make a pretty impressive Vanguard
Size Airliner :o

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

.... with VERY big engines by comparison!

Thanks Keith.
Cheers Kit, I think the Comrod test aircraft before the production aircraft were built, would be appropriate.

An AEW Caravelle would work either the E-2 rotor-dome or Nimrod AEW resin conversion kit.
The tanker or bomber options.
Using parts left over from both kits and engine pylons. T33s or CFMs.
Might opt for the 1/144 scale as well.

McColm

Been reading kit reviews of the Mach 2 Caravelle and it does seem that the Airfix BAe Nimrod and AlleyCat resin parts will be need as the Caravelle cockpit has some issues.
If I can get hold of a piece of plastic pipe which has the same diameter as the Caravelle then a stretch versionand kitbash with the Airfix parts. The left overs will be used. There is a 1/72 de Havilland Comet kit available, a bit pricey as it is over £100 using resin and vacformed parts.

I did build a shortend version of the BAe Nimrod and a stretched version both had spin-tops added to the upper fuselage. One had the E-3 and the other the E-2, so this could work on the Caravelle as well.
A six engine beast, maybe. Although I did build a five engined version using the rear end of a Trident, which with a bit of filler and superglue looked the part. I added the wings off the Airfix Vulcan kit.
Next time I'll keep the engines attached.

The 3 in 1 shop, Happy Landings , Stanwelll has two dozen Corgi 1/36 diecast model vehicles of TV and film characters/drama series. I'm interested in the Ford Granada from the Sweeney. Never knew they made one. Most is from the James Bond range. The Monkeys, Charlie's Angels, The Green Hornet, Yellow Submarine, the Saint-jag, Marilyn Monroe  and Elvis Cadillac.
Two 1/18 MG Bs.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a repro, might buy it and use it to design my own flying car of the same period.
Bound to be a sale on after Christmas. I'll be on the hunt for aircraft kits around the Hounslow and Staines area.
Should have enough dosh to move out, seen a few places in South Ealing, close to the Piccadilly Line and a twenty minute walk to Ealing Green. Only problem there's no dedicated Model shop, Argoss or the Early Learning Center.
