If you could get hold of a pair of Comet 4C wings in 1/72 or would the set from the Airfix BAe Nimrod work?

Close, but it's got MUCH larger intakes for the Speys for the Nimrod.

Thinking of Whiffing the Mach2 Caravelle as an AEW & C. Seen a conversion set of the ASP-125 in resin both in 1/144 and 1/72 on eBay. A change of engines or two underwing pylon mounted turbofans ie CFM if they fit. Possible stretch version or change of wing .

Caravelle has great WHIF potential, and is way underrepreented here- agree a AEW would be a good fit.

That's 'cos the Mach 2 kit is pretty pricy and the Airfix 1/144 one isn't one of their best and hasn't been produced for ages.

What Kit no love for the Pegaso Caravelle in the oh so popular 1/180 scale?  ;)

I got mine on the bargain table for $3 US just a few years ago.  Seem to be on ebay, quite affordable.  And it comes with it's own airport- you can't say that about many kits!

Here she is in all her glory.  Part count is rather low, and shall we say rather basic.....

No, but why not? Airfix at least should include a put together cardboard scene in their starter packs or whatever they are called. That way if you are using the starter pack as intended you would have almost all you need to build and paint your first model and be able to take a decent picture of your pride and joy with a suitable background right away.

I should suggest that to Airfix and claim royalties!

They could print the background on the inside of the packs and mark some 'Cut Here' lines on the outside so you don't wreck the background without noticing when you open the box.

I might have solved the problem of building a floatplane version of the 1/72 Lockheed Constellation C-69.
Mach2 has the Blohm & Voss Ha 139 in 1/72 floatplane which is roughly the same size. A kitbash or the landplane version of the Ha 139, this will depend on the quality of the Mach2 parts.
The reviews aren't kind, as there are plenty of issues to address apart from :banghead: the floats, at £46. An expensive price to pay just for a pair of floats, if the parts can be salvaged and used as spares for future projects.

Revell did something similar many years ago.  I also remember building something similar but with only one plane.

Those are neat, I would have loved those as a kid (or as a big kid  ;))

So has everyone done a crashed 190/109 or it it just me....

Uh, oh!   :o
Having now seen the Revell 1/72 Blohm & Voss Bv 138 and the 1/144 scale model the p111 concept seems doable.
Although, with the third engine, wings, engines and tail boom not needed a fuselage of a landplane could be glued on top.

Captain Canada

Very cool diorama bases. The Carvelle kit with the airport is a great idea ! Maybe swap the wings out with the Heller Atlantique ? Maybe not....forgot about the engine location

I've been working on that for years, but it's a real pain to get the bits to join and be strong enough. It's quite a bit further on than this pic by now though.

Thanks Kit.
Got me thinking. Four engines-prop or jets.Kitbash, definitely.
