Got idea to build the landplane version of the Supermarine Walrus, by taking away the bi-plane wings and adding the wings from the DH 85 Comet racer.

Or add the engine, wings and tailplane off the Spitfire.
Or Hurricane.

The original steam locomotive and real carriages can be seen at Leavesden Studios, the Warner Bros Harry Potter London Studio Tour.
Which was opened on the 19th March 2015. I plan to visit this sometime this year.

You've probably seen a few new topics of mine about painting model trains and building my own version of the APT.
Which got me thinking of using a HST 125 and/ or the InterCity 225/ Eurostar which ever is cheapest to buy in the secondhand market. They don't have to be runners,at this stage. As I haven't decided on sticking to traditional or going digital.
In the Harry Potter films the Hogwarts Express is always facing the wrong direction to be leaving Kings Cross Station but always arrives with the loco at the front, unless they have two engines at each end!
If they used a HST 125 or Class 91 which is in the background, the GNER on the next platform.
I intend to paint a HST 125 in:
Pullman colours
Hogwarts Express
British Airways
Royal Air Force
Royal Navy
Military train
As to a two tier layout bottom tier to look like a tunnel with platforms, upper tier Dove Town. So it's mentioned in one of the books but never seen.
Plan is to build in modules, so they can be joined together at a later stage or operated independently.

What if you used the lower half of the 1/72 Boeing 377 Stratocruiser and added the Lockheed Constellation on top?
Problem solved if the wings are relocated to shoulder mounted.
A-seaplane
B-bomber if using parts from the B-29/50.
C-single tail fin and 377 wings

Flying boat version of the Stratocruiser. Shoulder mounted wings, sponsons. Airfix BAe Nimrod wings or Valiant wings.

With the top half of the Stratocruiser on the bench another Whiff could be the R6V Constitution or something looking similar.

RR Tynes or turboprops off a P-3 Orion. Both work. Short Stirling landing gear.

Going to have to stretch the Stratt fuselage to get the length of the Constitution. The wingspan doesn't even come close 48 foot difference. I know there's a 1/144 model, but this is expensive.

I came across the Blackburn B-107A and B-107B on Google whilst looking up the Beverley. My first thought was a C-130 fuselage with the wings and tail off the Beverley.
There's the resin kit and vacform in 1/72, think I've seen a 1/144 scale somewhere.
Maybe a C-160 would be better, I don't have any info on how big the B-107 would have been, any ideas?

PR19_Kit

The B.107 used the wings and tail design from the Bev, so I'd be a tad longer, and higher too. As it had 4 x Tynes and retractable gear it would have been a LOT faster, but that wouldn't have been difficult.....

It's a pity they didn't build it as it would have given the RAF Belfast type capability some years earlier.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

McColm

Thanks kit. I think the best bet is to buy the Sanger vacformed kit and kitbash from there. Could add the wings from the Airfix BAe Nimrod to replace the wings.

Off to google to see what you're on about.....

OK I'm back ! And wow ! Love the look of that thing. Funny tho, it looks so modern and sleek from the front and upper view, yet comical from the side ! Ugly but not, now I want to build one !

Reminds me of the Boeing 377 with Bev wings and tail but the fuselage would have to be a lot deeper unless the cockpit was moved above the fuselage.
Similar to the idea I had of having a B-17 cockpit above a C-97.

I came across an article online that suggests the President of USA wants a high-speed railnetwork I place in the next 35 years. In the same article there's a red cutaway drawing of a rocket powered train. The rocket is based on the same principle as the Saturn Rocket.
Jet powered, maybe. As there is another topic "railplanes" with pictures of real world jet trains.
Does anyone have any info on rocket powered trains?

Rocket trains sound completely crazy !

Nah we've been testing ejector seats from them for decades  ;D

Somewhat brutal and impractical for passenger trains however  :banghead:
