Doris,
I think that's a name for a VW campervan. I'll keep looking.
Thanks for the link.

Doris does not exactly sound God like but its in that list

Pie is good though, Yam too  ;D

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Proteus sounds appropriate.
Just need a 1/72 Avro Shackleton. Super-shack by the time I've finished with it. Sort of turbo-shack with a Rotodome on the roof.
I hope that I don't win all the bids I put on eBay next week or the sellers can wait another week for payment.
The Atlantic is still out of alignment when it comes to adding the cockpit section. Plasticard and filler needed. Will be working on the wings and engines on Monday afternoon.

Only known a couple of Doris's and neither were goddess like
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Glued up both wings and engine cowlings. The cowlings went on well without any problems, I think clamping the wings before letting them dry out works better than leaving the piece to dry out and then adding the engine cowlings.
Really need to get the right paint colours for the cockpit. Back piece (curtain fitted). Slightly out of line on a dry test to the rear fuselage, could cover with lumps & bumps from the EP-3 Orion vacform conversion set.
ESM pods fitted to wingtips.
Needs a good rub down with wet & dry paper to remove the seems.
Thought I'd do my laundry and sand down the parts I'd filled in. Seems the washing machine had other ideas. Stopped working after 20 minutes, Landlord cursed and said he'd buy a new one and it started working again.
Glued the wings on, undercarriage main legs in place. Righthand side cockpit glued in place, spacer for the dipping radar glued as well.
Cockpit interior needs tidying up, wheels will be glued and painted-put on in final stage. Will surf the internet for a colour scheme.

Proteus has had a few dry tests with different vertical tail solutions. The Heller Grumman Hawkeye tail section fits- thinking a layout close to the E-1B. Need to get hold of some 1/72 plans for a 4 engine radial aircraft layout to work out the spacing of the engines for Proteus, if not l'll have to stagger them so the propellers don't clash.
An idea for a twin boom did come to mind to use the C-119 Flying Boxcar or the Nord Noratlas. I think that will be my next project or maybe a twin boom Shackleton!

Pics. There's just too much going on to keep track of......

There's only two builds on the go at the moment;
1/72 Revell Br1150 Atlantic which will get a pair of auxiliary jet pods, Falcon Triple Conversion kit EP-3, passive-aray AEW mounted above the fuselage.

1/72 Lockheed Neptune known as Proteus. 4 engined turboprop AEW &C with a Hawkeye Rotodome rotor dome. Deeper fuselage.
Possible twin tail either looking like the Grumman E-1B or Grumman Hawkeye E-2C.

Captain Canada

OK, that's easier for me to understand ! They both sound pretty cool, and will be covered in lumps and bumps which is always a favourite of mine. The Neptune especially sounds good.

Tophe has drawn up a twin boom twin tail  Neptune, which looks doable. Just waiting on funds to buy the AC-119K kit. I used this kit on a C-130 once but had trouble with the rear doors.
There's a video of a 1/72 Revell German Atlantic kit on YouTube, I haven't done what the modeler did with the engines, nor got to the painting of the fuselage. But it gives you an idea of what stage I'm at.

That's a LOT of aeroplane too! You need to factor in a ton of noseweight when building it too, I did an RW one some years ago and it's the heaviest model in my collection!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks Guys.
Maybe I could swap the wings over from the AC-119 and Neptune.
This would give the Flying Boxcar a look similar to the C-123 or add the main rotors and tail from the MH-53E plus landing gear.
Won't know until both kits are in my hands.
The Atlantic keeps me busy as ideas keep entering my head. The USCoast Guard colour scheme or something similar.

Then I could buy another MH-53E and use the leftover parts to stretch the fuselage of the Sea Dragon.

Thanks to Tophe the Neptune has taken on a whole new look. At first I was thinking of using the AC-119K wings, engines and twin tail boom (even bought the kit) , the Nord Noratlas although smaller would also work, but having seen the AModel Rutan Voyager and read the reviews I feel the need for a kitbash.
With an engine in the nose and at the rear, those long wings and twin boom would look the part.
High altitude reconnaissance springs to mind.
