The Super Moose has changed name to the Sea Moose. The floats from a Matchbox He 115 and hull from a Short Stranner glue on. I made a hash of the cockpit, so I have stuck the forward section of a Airfix Rotodyne in its place . It ment a lot of cutting but it fits. Just needs filler to blend in. Almost ready for painting.

A direct link would be handy.

Better yet, get the direct URLs and post the pics here............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The Sea Moose is looking more like the Grumman E-1B each time. I've used both parts of the radomes from the Heller 1/72 Lockheed Constellation EC-121K Warning Star. The base is the top radome cut to form the stand and the top is the larger radome glued to plasticard. Filled in with to plastic poles so it can be removed during painting and transported.
The floats are giving me problems so I'll use the Stranner kit ones instead.

Proteus II is nearing the painting stage, having used the swivel nozzles from a Harrier kit as engine exhaust pipes as on the Vietnam Neptune. A few more lumps and bumps to give it that sneaky appearance.

Avro Shackleton/Charlton, working progress. Looks like some of the fuselage panels have been temporary repaired with gaffa tape especially the flat nose. (Next time I'll use finner wet 'n' dry paper). Tyres and cockpit to be sorted out.Propellers masked and painted.

Waiting in the wings is the Academy 1/72 KC-97 soon to have the last E-2 Rotodome fixed to the upper fuselage. Engines are a hybrid combo with RR Griffon added. Will need exterior pipework.
Spare parts to go on the Airfix Super-G/ KC-121P
Br1150 Atlantic AWACS, as discussed.
Lockheed EP-3 FASS-resin resin front and rear radomes.
BAe Nimrod- Phased Array, carried above the upper fuselage.

Part 2
Due to the weight increase, I've had to beef up the landing gear from the Matchbox Supermarine Stranraer kit. One of the beach gear wheels has been cut in half and glued under the hull. The rear trolley is flued in place to represent rear wheel steering. Landing gear doors added.
The upper *stoof  with the roof" is now the base-plate of the display stand you got with the Frog Avro Shackleton kit with plastic rods to support the new radome. I will use some plasticard to hide the gap. The floats from the Stranraer are glued up just need to make new struts. Just needs a general tidy up.

Part 3
Decided to go with a pair of RR Griffon engines mounted to the upper wing. Was going to use the gun from the Monogram A-10 kit but that's missing.

Received the Revell CL-415 04998 kit this morning. Has the Ministry of Natural Resources Ontario Tanker 278 C-GOGZ 2008 decals and both turboprop & radial engines. Tempted to build straight from the box and just add the Fujimi E-2C J parts as and when needed.

I got hold of an old Airfix B-29, that had been up in someone's loft for a long time. The box fell a part but the pieces are all there apart from the decals.
An idea of mine was to build my version of the Chinese KJ-1 based on the Tu-4 Bull. There is/was a conversion kit in 1/72 or 1/48 but this is a rare find and very expensive.
With the stash at the moment, I intend to use the Heller E-2 Rotodome and stand; for the engines the Attack Squadron C-130 J engine nacelles glued to the Airfix nacelles with Hamilton four blade propellers. Using the twin tails from the Revell Avro Shackleton as I intend to use the vertical tail fin on the Napier powered Shackleton.
The nose will become a solid radome and the cockpit fitted to the upper fuselage ( spare Valiant glazing). Slightly deeper weapons bay doors for additional kit/crew/Ravens.

On second thoughts there are a few parts on the Academy kit KC-97 that would fit the Airfix kit. I tried this before and with a bit of trimming and cutting to get a good fit, this works. So the cockpit could stay where it is and the rear side fuselage windows blanked over. Upper guns need to be removed but recycled on the Shackleton heavy bomber.

Slight problem, the Academy parts don't fit the Airfix kit, the guns and turrets are okay but anything else requires a lot of work.

McColm

Decided to add the Viper rear jet pipes to the RR Griffons (came from a C-130 kit), also fitted four remote controlled gun turrets from the Airfix B-29 model. One to the rear underside, one at the front underside and the remaining either side of front fuselage.
The nose leg has been changed to one from the Revell Br1150 Atlantic gives it beefed touch the wheels are also off the C-130.
Will need to add more nose weight to counter balance the high main landing gear.you

I had alme forgotten just how big the Heller 1/72 E-3A AWACS kit really is until I opened the box yesterday.
Fortunately for me the seller had already glued the wing section. Apart from the cockpit there isn't any interior detailing which makes for a blank canvas.
The Rotodome is going on the Revell Br1150 Atlantic or Atlantis as it will have 4 RR Tyne's fitted.
The resin 1/72 B-52 engines I've seen are for the later models, but would still make an interesting build.

McColm

Just had an idea,
If the fuselage cross-section of the E-3 or the EC-135N is the same as a C-130 (C-160) then a jet powered kitbash C-130 front and rear sections grafted on a C-135 fuselage. Landing gear from the C-130.
If two kits are compatible, a super stretch.

In a word NO. The E3 doesn't even have the same cross section as the C-135 in any guise.
