Yes I had a feeling that they were different, but I'll see if you the C-130 and C-160 fits the two different fuselages. Something similar to a C-141 could be kitbashed or a jet C-130/160 mega-stretch.

Meanwhile, the Revell B-17G has had it's roof removed. Glued up and dry fitted to the upper fuselage of the Airfix B-29. This fits, I'll add the cockpit floor from the B-17G to the B-29. The B-29 will have a solid nose.

On the other hand the B-17G gets the Revell Canberra PR9 wings, tail and the cockpit from the Mach2 RB-57F with aftermarket seats set for the B-57E or B-47 cockpit and canopy. Which ever is the better fit.
The remaining parts of the Canberra PR9 will get used on the March RB-57F.

Just get a C-141B Starlifter !!!!. It will cost less than the source kits, plastic card and filler your going to use creating that monster, and the Hercules kit is a bugger to stretch and retain the smooth impression.

Who makes a 1/72 Starlifter, other than the Nova vacform, though?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Combat Models Kit, got an 'C-141A' and a 'B' in the stash (I should say I got a complete C-141A plus a 'B' fuselage), was going to use the 'A' fuselage as a parts donor for it's C-135 counterpart ---
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I have most of the parts already in the stash.
Moving the wings from low to shoulder high is something I'm working on at the moment. The trial/donor model is an ex-EC-121 Constellation; undercarriage is from a Fairchild AC-119 and the wings are off a C-130, single vertical tail fin from the Airfix B-29.Chopped the wing-box section and glued upside-down. Made a hash of the original wing hence the C-130 fit. Looks like the Starliner with a shoulder mounted wings. Haven't glued all the new pieces together, as I might add a weapons bay and gun turrets XB-30G.
Thinking of kitbashing the Airfix Super-G as a shoulder mounted tanker version with the C-97 vertical tail fin and KC-97G parts from the Academy kit.
As this kit has the Rotodome from a E-2 and RR Griffons contra-rotating propellers fitted to the engines. Shackleton twin fins to be added. EC-97 AEW Waddington.

The Airfix kit that I have has a few parts that have wrapped.
With the cockpit area from the Revell B-17G now glued in place it looks like something Convair would have built as a rival to the B-29. The twin fin tails are a sort of trademark of theirs.
The engines don't have the long nacelles from the C-130J replacement kit just the front ends as they are a better fit.
The Airfix kit is showing it's age, but with a bit of filler/puty should fill the gaps.

The Beagle Gunship has the Airfix 1/76 40mm Bofors gun fitted under the nose, the muzzle is off the Monogram A-10. Other parts from the Airfix 02314 kit will be added to beef up the armor- platting around the guns.

The vacform HP Victor Mk2 arrived this morning, some parts already cut out, with a few parts missing. Will need to add the Flightpath update kit - resin & metal etch, plus wheels from another aftermarket source.
This will have to wait until all my other started builds get finished.
Putty/filler and paints to buy.
It's a large kit, but looks small in 1/72 scale.
Probably go for a maritime look.

Wouldn't it be easier to get the re-issued Revell Kit ?

I tried to build that same kit before and ran into a few problems with the wings. I hadn't discovered plastic card.

Got my "spares 'n' repairs" 1/72 Airfix HS/BAe Nimrod MR1 today. Although it is already built and bits have broken off most of these parts were sent with the model.
There's loads of filling to do and regluing on the wings . The undercarriage legs will be replaced with metal ones and the wheels also replaced. A raid in the spares bin to add the tail fins, strakes, inflight refueling probe and wing ESM pods. Under wing pylons to be added and a new paint job.
Might go down the support route-tanker/AEW. A revised " Mad Hatter"
Checked the metal landing gear in the vacform set of the HS/BAe Nimrod, there's even metal wheels included.

McColm

I've always wanted to buy the Hasegawa Martin SP-5BM Marlin flying boat, as it seemed out of my price range.
There's an uncanny resemblance between the Marlin and the Shin Meiwa US-1.
Which got me thinking of a four turboprop engines version.
Not too sure if the Breguet proposed Br.1250 could be kitbashed with a Br.1150 Atlantic.
Probably a future build if I can get hold of another one.

McColm

The Wyton former Boeing B-29 now has the tail from a Heller 1/72 Grumman E-2J Hawkeye. There is now the ECM fairing above the outer cockpit. Filler/putty applied to fill in some of the gaps on the Airfix kit.

Beagle and Sea Moose- sanding-filler-sanding in readiness of painting.

Carlton- painting of the cockpit, glazing and propellers. Wheels to be attached. Masking for gloss and decals, then satin or matt finish.

Proteus- loads of sanding .

TR8 hatchback- painting interior and exterior.

Got some leave in October, so I can get most of the started builds to the painting/decal stage. Pics will follow. I'll get some labels made out as well.
