One of my kitbash builds looks like an alternative to the Kawasaki P-1. Which in my mind looks like a Lockheed P-3 Orion with 4 jet engines.
The Avro Raven MR.1 is also based on a P-3 Orion fuselage with the Vulcan wing drooping downwards for stability at low and high level altitudes. It has two large turbofan engines on the upper wing with a resin Cammett BAe Nimrod AEW radome in the nose and the Airfix BAe Nimrod canopy & vertical tail fin .It does in some angles resemble the 'fat Vulcan'.
It just needs the lumps and bumps added.

Eric the Viking is impressive !
I would like to see it done

I'm going to have to wait and see if the Airmodel YB-49 vacform kit is compatible with the YB-35. As the vacform ceiling would be easier to cut to make the  windows for the passenger version.
I could always drill them out. Two seats per window.
For the other kit, a possible AEW version making use of the lumps and bumps, using the Heller Lockheed EC-121 Warning Star radomes.
Lots to do and finish off.

Received a box of spares from eBay and quickly dived in to see the contents.
A nearly complete 1/48 Italeri F/A-18E Super Hornet. Already started, detailing in the nose wheel well and cockpit areas.
I glued the landing gear, twin fins and the wings,  & jet exhaust pipes. I'm thinking along the lines of a V/STOL. With a pair of lift engines behind the cockpit and changing the rear exhaust pipes.
I also found a Airfix 1/72 Lockheed S-3A Viking with most of the parts but no instructions. I've got a copy of the Hasegawa instructions so I'm using those as a guide.
There are parts for a 1/72 Dassault Rafale and a Boeing X-32 so that should be an interesting kitbash.
Well it's laundry day tomorrow so I'll best crack on with some two part filler.

I think that I have stumbled upon an idea for the twin engined Lockheed Constellation bomber.
I started by using the bomb bays from the Academy 1/72 B-29 on the Heller EC-121 but never got around to finishing this off.
Having found the wings and tail booms broken off the Mach2 AW Argosy/ Argos Gunship which fit the Constellation (well almost- they came from a AC-119G/K). I will stick with the undercarriage from the Heller kit and add gun turrets.
The Argos had a triple fin rear tail which I will use as well.

This sounds good! I love a Connie in any configuration, especially a whif one!!!

I have a mint condition sealed Heller EC-121 Warning Star in 1/72 that I just have sitting around as decoration for now. I really like just looking at it... won't be whiffing it but it will be one hell of a build when I do get around to it. I'd like to build a collection of the 1/72 kits. I know there is a MACS one (or whatever it was) and also some airliner versions. All by Heller if I'm not mistaken. But anyway..

I just adore the Connies man, so go for the gusto...

Airfix put out the Heller Connie and Super Connie under their own label too, and I think they had different decals to the Heller Issues.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yes, and they cost a fortune. The two on ebay currently have BIN prices over £100.  :o :o

Try KingKit or KitKrazy.
Thanks for the encouragement. I've always wanted to do a seaplane version of the Connie or a jet powered variant. I might combine the two on my next kitbash project.

Looking deeper into the Airfix Connie boxings, it looks like they only ever did the Quantas version. I've got one somewhere in The Loft and I'll have a look, as I was pretty sure mine had alternative markings too.
