11 days until Christmas,  seems like any other day for me. I'm getting used to the quietness and London is on the verge of another lockdown.
Meanwhile back on the bench and the Avro York idea has been shelved for a Airfix Avro Shackleton AEW with the radome from the Mach2 Grumman E-1 Tracer 'Shack with the stack '. Work also continues with the Airfix Avro Lancaster B.II, with Rolls-Royce Nene jet engines and the Lancastrian resin parts.
The Mystic AEW. 2 is another step closer to painting the upper wings thanks to Perfect Plastic Putty.
I'll have a look tomorrow and see what I did with my paint brushes.
The 00 gauge Triang Midland blue Pullman is no longer blue but painted Humbrol Acrylic RC 415 brown. I somehow managed to create the battered/worn look,  just have to paint the cream , white roof and headlights.

The Midland brown Pullman now has a cream paint scheme around the windows. Although the Rail Colour paint by Humbrol is correct for the Pullman signage it's really pale,  so I had a rummage and came up with something that resembles Insignia Yellow. It's a shade darker than that applied to the Horny Pullman coaches but seems to work when painted around the window frames,  the decals can still be seen through the new paint.
The 'shack with the stack ' now has a flat nose and part of the interior painted with the cockpit glued in place.
Further rummaging has resulted in two more Revell Breguet Br1150 Atlantic ATL1 kits,  but I will have to check if they are complete,  if not then a four engined  Tyne variant  is on the cards to be built inbetween painting the Celestial,  Mystic and Majestic.
A bit more sorting out needs to be done so I can group all the car parts together,  Nimrod,  Shackleton , B-52 , Lancaster  and B-36.
Although I am still finding parts and asking myself where does this go? I now know why people save the box art.
Next year, I will definitely get some 00 gauge track and a transformer/controller. An end to end layout.

Top photo is the 1/72 Revell/Monogram Convair RB-36H Peacemaker with the BAe Nimrod AEW.3 nose and rear radomes, this build is getting the wings,  engines and landing gear from a B-52G.
Middle photo,  started life as the 1/72 Mach2 Martin WB-57F and has two turboprop engines,  these have been replaced with a pair of Rolls-Royce Tyne engines. The nose is a Canberra T.17.
Bottom photo was the 1/72 Avro Lincaster flying boat which has been scrapped. The Rolls-Royce Nene jet engines are now on the Airfix Avro Lancaster B.II (K.1 tanker) build.

Two views of the 1/72 Heller Douglas DC-6B, Southern Star with four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. It will either stay as an airliner/ transport or be converted into a MPA Sea Serpent MR.1.

Two views of the 1/72 Mach2 A.W. Argosy which now has six jet engines taken from the Boeing B-47 Stratojet and the 1/144hovercraft skirt for an air-cushion landing system. The nose and rear radome are from the Cammett BAe Nimrod AEW.3 conversion set.

Two views of what was once the Airfix 1/72 Bristol Superfreighter,  now a four jet engined  gunship. Not the original cockpit.
Thanks Captain Canada

Thursday 17th December 2020

Too many distractions has lead me to work on the 1/72 Airbus Beverley, it's a secondhand Contrail Blackburn Beverley which was badly damaged and sold at a bargain price on eBay. I've found that certain parts from the Revell 1/72 Airbus A400M Atlas can be adapted to fit. I think it's a case of firming up the interior cargo hold and at some point getting hold of another kit so I can build it properly. This one is a kitbash but I have kept the fuselage halves as everything else was damaged beyond repair.

The Airbus A400M Atlas engines work well on the Revell 1/72 Breguet Br1150 Atlantic and the Tyne engines are now on the Mach2 Martin WB-57F.

Thanks again to Captain Canada for uploading my pictures.

Captain Canada
