Sunday 5th June 2022

On this day in June 2021, I was discharged from King's College Hospital and I was driven to Staycity Deptford Bridge where I would stay until the 19th December up on the 7th floor. It was a real learning curve fending for myself but once I got the TV working it wasn't so bad. That's if the lift was working and no one was setting off the smoke alarms.
My body is still hurting after carrying two full bags of groceries from the Food Bank in Welling Kent, the bus ride takes you right passed the Woolwich Barracks where I saw a variety of military vehicles parked up, the other side of Shooters Hill is a farm with goats and ponies. Welling High Street is what I remember Ealing Broadway used to look like before the developers moved in.One day I will stay on the bus as it takes you to Bexley Shopping Centre,  I might pop in to Kitkrazy the model shop for some supplies.
Kitwise, it's been sanding for me or PSR and a few changes to my current builds, plenty of painting to do.

It's Battle of Britain Day,when the nation remembers those brave men defending the skies over Britain. It was when I was working front of house security for Saint Dunstan's charity for the war blind now known as Blind Veterans UK that I got to met three pilots, one had originally been a pilot during World War 1.
Today would be spent watching the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sky News all three hours worth with Joanna Lumley  whilst undertaking some PSR on the Westland Heliliner, Martin Marina AEW.5 and the Me-321b flying boat car ferry. I had managed to reglue the wings of the Me-321b and find the three blade main rotor for the Heliliner.
This got it's first coat of primer and I found the decals of the Revell Rotordyne or is it Rotodyne? The pair of turbojets from a Fairchild C-119, has been glued to the side of the fuselage.
I'm not quite sure how many layers of paint there are on the Martin Marina AEW.5 amphibious flying boat but it's going to need another one.
I've also been experimenting on the 1/24 Rolls-Royce Phantom Menace with a woodie painted finish using the Humbrol acrylic burnt umber brown and cream colours. Several layers will be needed plus some high gloss or decals for the wood on the doors.

Isn't September the 15th Battle of Britain day? That's when many RAF stations held their BoB flying displays in the 50s-60s etc. or the closest weekend to that date anyway.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

The Wooksta!

It is indeed.  It should be a bank holiday.  Under my regime, it would be.

I made up an oval of Hornby 00 gauge track and put my 3D model of Hogwarts Castle inside, there's ample space for the Quidditch Pitch plus Hagrid's Hut. This will be placed on a raised surface with scenery, I have plenty of polystyrene packaging and will create two stations, Dovetown and a mainline with a goods yard.
At the moment I'm using clockwork powered steam locomotives, I seen a few bodyshells for sale on ebay plus spare parts.
The plan is an analogue layout buying a few pieces at a time. I will be using the Peco Setrack Planbook as a guide, 8th edition April 1998 to expand the oval.
I'm just watching the train go by!

I have a problem with my glasses, they keep sliding down my nose when my face gets sweaty, in between doing my laundry and working on the 1/24 Jaguar XJS hatchback project. I had an interesting phone call regarding my Emergency Support Scheme for the supply of furniture and white goods to new council tenants, the result is my claim has been approved. Yippee!
They will be delivering a washing machine,  electric cooker, a chest of drawers, a two seater sofa, dining table with two chairs and a dinner service. There's a 6 week waiting time. For the other furnishings I can apply to a charity 'Turn2Us'.

Probably just need tightening ? I just pop into the opticians I got them from and they just do mine free of charge
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Today I start my big adventure, the first time riding on one of the new all electric trains from Paddington Station. Changing at Truro onto one of the rural lines to Penmere.  Apparently it's an 8 minute walk to my mum's place.
No more whiffing but lots to do on my return.

Take a cushion with you, the seats on those Class 800s are as hard as concrete, even in First Class! :(

Of course they were specified by some gawp in the Department of Transport, and they get to ride everywhere in their official Jag XJs...........

You've never travelled in the back of a C-130, this is luxury.. Same as a Herc very noisy  ;D

PR19_Kit

Actually I have, but a long time ago.

And that was luxury compared to a Beverley!  ;D

Made it without too many problems on the train,  toilets out of order and the air conditioning not working. Whilst I was at Truro Station waiting for the branch line train I spotted a GWR HST.I thought these were supposed to be retired from service. This one had passengers, it might have been going to Plymouth.
Penmere is very peaceful, it's about a 20 minute walk to the beach as the Crow flies or 10 minutes until you reach the main road to Falmouth. It may even be quaint in certain circles.
Although there's a bus service, a car is still essential to get around.
