The GWR HSTs have been 'sawn down' in length, and are only 4-5 coaches long now, for work on shorter routes.

They've called them the 'Castle Class' for some pseudo-historical reason and they're limited to 100 mph as they don't have enough braking power to do 125. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks Kit, that gives me an idea. The Australians ran the XPT,a modified version of the HST. So why not Amtrak in the USA? It would make an interesting whiff on my 00 gauge layout.

Ah thanks Kit. I thought I was seeing things the other week
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Information is NEVER useless!!   It's more a case of "data not currently required"   as long as it can be retrieved  if needed..........................and that concludes today's foray into philosophy.

Many people have suggested that I should upload my memory somewhere before I shuffle off.  :-\

In some way my Kit's Kolumns in the UK SIG Newsletter will do that to a small extent hopefully.

That will be a feature in a future GB build immortalised in plastic. You haven't bequested your stash to anyone I hope.  ;D

Friday 17th June 2022

My mum and I went into Falmouth town's high street. They are holding a Sea Shanty in various places, well you know Cornish folk any excuse for a party. Every where was packed. Quite a few of the shops have closed and Trago Mills has had a refurbishment. I didn't walk up as far as Trago Mills which is very close to the Maritime Museum.
Took an open top bus to Swan Pool, yes it's a large pond with plenty of wildlife. Saw the swans and ducks plus a pike catch it's lunch. Before heading to the beach. Which was packed as well. We spent two hours there, we could have taken the short cut back to mum's house but took the bus back. Passing through the docks. A cargo ship with a helipad. I'll have to do a bit of research on  this to find out what it's purpose is.
It seems that there's a sailing ship regatta going on, as there was a few sailing barges out on the water.
The pace of life is really slow compared with London which suits me just fine.

Yes, Falmouth's a great place. Used to have quite a good model shop too, but that closed a while back IIRC.

I tried to spin out my service trips down there as long as possible, the customer REALLY liked the way I had to check out every little part of his system.  ;D ;)

That's exactly my experience too, and it is incredibly healing. Cities can be fun, by my mind can't cope with them any longer than about two days in a row. Then I need another two weeks in the sticks to flush out the stress.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Just one reason why I normally live in the Forest of Dean. Not that I'm actually IN the Forest, mind you, just in one of the small towns in the area.

I'm with you all on this.  I'm on the edge a medium sized village 15 miles NW of Hereford, so minimal stress.  Going into Hereford  or up to Carlisle (both smallish cities) is mildly stressful,  and I need several quiet days to recover from Bristol or Birmingham.  As for London, Paris, Jerusalem, Rome or  Cairo.............AAAAAAGH!
