Nimitz stays in 1941? Kind of like John Birminghams Axis of Time trilogy.

Now...if that were the case, would the Navy be willing to share with the Army all those nifty new toys and gadgets?  Hmm...Sidewinder-armed Lightnings, and Thunderbolts, and Mustangs...

  it´s fantastic. I´m agree Kerick; the time warp gives to the whiffies world an endless number of possibilities. I remember a profile of F-14 on olive drub; very nice.

In French this is "fantastic" for a double reason: fantasy and marvelous... hehehe...

I'm trying to imagine a Tomcat with yellow wings and a blue fuselage.  Of course, the Army would go nuts once they found out the Navy had "rocket planes".

I wonder how many nuclear devices the USS Nimitz has on board?

One problem I can see with the USS Nimitz in 1941, resupply.  Once the weapons and spare parts on-board have been used up, there are no replacements.

Jet fuel could have been refined but the spare parts would be challenging.  Could a factory have been set up even to make the tires for those planes?  Possibly, but the electronics would have been impossible.  Metal airframe parts could have been machined by skilled craftsmen and substitutes of metal made for some plastic parts.  Thank heavens this is whiff world and we don't have to solve those problems.

Not to mention the amazement of Adml. Nimitz himself to learn that there was a ship named after him casusing mayhem amongst the Japanese Fleet that he had NO knowledge of at all!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Well if this is Whiffworld, then I suggest putting replicator units onboard.

Fine, I'll show myself out.

Sidewinders on a Lightening? Hmmm. It could have been very interesting.

I once asked that question to an ex-crew of the Midway and got the very textbook reply of "don't ask, don't tell, besides I'm the last one - even after the galley types who would know"

Replicators are cool, its the problem with the time warp having mutated the crew that's the problem, not spare parts

Very nice, those markings look great! I'm now wondering how cool it would look in a Jolly Rogers scheme? That may look pretty wicked.
