So, what does one do with these leftover bits?

Big chunks of model parts sitting around after finishing my CF-100/U-2 mashup, and they have to be put to use somehow. Hmmm...

Ooooh, I see two bottom halves that have wing slots, and 4 wings:

That obviously calls for something like, but obviously not exactly like, this:

I'll use the kit decals for an in-service RCAF machine. Coming up with the back story for this one might take some time. And probably beer, yeah, lots of beer. At times like this Alvis becomes even more awesome, because he manages to do his stuff without the aid of performance-enhancing substances.

Never discount the effects of being dropped on my head a LOT as a kid, usually by myself. I'm pretty sure it jangled up the wiring in there. Performance enhancements might make me normal again, which is why I steer clear of them.

If the X-wing idea doesn't jell, another might be to build a 4 engined CF100 canuck by pairing them, like on the VC10 and using the wing parts to build a 35 percent longer single wing. Would make it even a bit better to give it a longer nose. Such plane would be a heavy lifter version, used by the RCAF as a glider and research lifting body tug. The Canadian CFXX aerospace plane was towed in its early versions and later rode piggyback like the D-21 drone did on the Blackbird.

Nearly chocked on my tea there  ;D How the heck do you drop yourself  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Okay, progress so far...

Nose and cockpit have been hacked crudely from top half, corresponding section cut from one bottom half creating putty-hungry gap. It's a bit out of line in this pic, but you can tell it will take some creative meddling to get it flush.

Rear has been blanked off, now need to be 'busied up' a bit with various pieces of suitable looking scrap..

This rocket pod will donate its top section as the astromech droid, which will be plunked into a hole to the rear of the canopy.

Rat-san,

What scale is this build of yours going to be? If it's 1/72 the I have a couple of astromech 'heads' you can have as they'll be spare from my current x-wing build.

Okay, a bit more progress, pilot is courtesy of Lancer. Wings still need a bit more steam treatment to straighten them out, and no doubt there will be more putty, tears, and foul language.

This is a totally great idea with left over bits. I follow like the cat laying in front of a mouse hole with cheese on his pallet:

My first thought was superhero transport. Tail fins and custom wheels for the "Rides" contest. Hmmmm... I have a Buccaneer laying around I'll probably never build....
