Thanks Guys

QuoteI take it that you sprayed it freehand

Yeah, all freehand and no masking. The trick is to properly thin your paint. I used Model Masters Enamel FS34097 Field green, US Army/Marines sand and Testor plain jane flat black(1149). I thinned each with Testor Enamel thinner/brush cleaner. My paint to thinner ratio is about 75% paint to 25% thinner plus or minus 10%( the black was way thinner than the others). It's a bit of trail and error, spray>thin>spray>add more paint or thin> spray...... When properly thinned, the paint should super smooth. Not too dry and not too wet. Anywho... the major paint work is done. Just need to paint the details, nose cone, intakes, wheel bay.....

Note... I'm using an Iwata Eclipe airbrush and Iwata Power jet lite compressor

Fresh out of the paint booth.... went back and forth a few times on all the colors. Still got a little overspray to fix but she's starting to look pretty sexy.

Nice looking finish. This should be a real beauty when you get it finished.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

She's looking really good

I will keep this camo scheme in my list of ideas for future builds.  I really like the color combo.

Superb work on that camo! A recce Starfighter seems a good fit for the RAAF, I look forward to seeing it all finished :-)

Thanks guys for your kind words  Project is on hold, it's summertime/airshow season.

Thanks again,

Well now that summertime/airshow season is over, it's back to my hobby room. She got her gloss coat today. Here she is after a few coats of Future.

She will dry for a few days before I wash her panel lines.

Until later,
Steven

Very nice looking bird Steven, it certainly suits the camo and recon nose job for sure. It could be a current service aircraft for sure as I am sure there are still airworthy airframes out there that could be converted to this role

Thanks Guys

Now that her gloss coat is dry and nice & hard, I washed her panel lines. Next, another gloss coat to seal the wash and for decals.

Until later,
