And it eventually entered mock-up stage:

No. They built a full-scale model for RCS tests and a 3/4 scale windtunnel model which 'flew' (tethered) in the NLR wind tunnel at Emmeloord. Last year I exhibited my Lampyridae model at a show and had a brief conversation with a former NLR employee who recognized the model and told me they had some problems during the test; apparently the model wasn't very stable at some speeds and came crashing though the side of the tunnel at one point.

This was never a full-works airplane development project, just an investigation into stealth. They spent some $10M proving the idea and the design method worked.

Ohh, I know the NLR tunnel very well!

NLR were one of my customers and I've spent many a happy hour on the Noord Oost Polder.  ;D That tunnel is HUGE, the largest in Europe at one time, and maybe still is. Must have been some serious instability to hit the tunnel wall hard enough to break it.

IIRC it went through a window (into the control room?).

Ah yes, that's a pretty big piece of glass and it's right alongside the working section of course. I'm glad I wasn' there then!  :o

Reminds me of the wind screen/frozen chicken joke  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
