It does.  But imagine how much more sinister it would look with an Armstrong Sideley Python powering it.

I doubt you could shoehorn a Python into a Mustang.  P-47 on t'other hand...

It's the turboprop that powered the Wyvern.

I doubt you could shoehorn a Python into a Mustang.  P-47 on t'other hand...

I had a look at my frog wyvern and  the airfix mustang and I think  it would  look ridiculous.  Watch this space.

Of course originally the Wyvern had a R.R. Eagle engine. 9 foot long sans prop shaft, and then there was the very elegant prototype of the Mk 2 fitted with the Clyde engine.

Douglas Skyraider or Boeing F8B would be my choice ---
I've got the 1/72 Reno Griffon Mustang close by, so I'll dig out my Python nacelle pod I've built for a Lancaster FTB build, should give a very good comparison, the nacelle is about as long as the Mustang  ----

I have put double mambas on two skyraiders, they look the part, think they would look a bit too far fetched on a mustang though......ish.

The Wyvern is a MUCH bigger aeroplane than you usually imagine! 

The one at Yeovilton, admittedly with an Eagle piston engine, TOWERS over everything in sight, and that includes the nearby Sea Harrier.

I was very impressed by it when I visited the museum in 2002 Kit.
I'm contemplating joining the 'In the Navy' GB by building one of the Wyvern TF.1 kits I have, only the plan is to build it as one of the other concepts Westland offered, the mid-engine version.
