I looked at building a Wyvern on floats.
Due to it's immense (and legendary) weight a single float version in 1/72 would require to be mounted on an Airfix Vosper MTB hull.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The production version would obviously lose the gull wing and have a simpler and lighter wing structure.

I did that for a pair of floats for a 1/72 C-47C floatplane. I started with the largest vacform floats done by Aeroclub, and added 1.5 inch to their length and a centre spline of 40 thou to widen them. Worked pretty well.

Thanks, Kit - that is useful.
I was going to use Ju-52 units for mine, but it's good to have options.

Oh, cool - so basically F6F style wings.

I'm using some of those XC-47C floats on this project.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Mind you the biggest floats I've used on a 1/72 were these 1/24 Spitfire floats.

Theoretically.

Aeroclub having closed down some years ago the vacform floats are no longer being made, so you'd have to search for some. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yeah, I was gutted to hear that - thankfully, I have 2X sets squirrelled away...

Years ago I used Matchbox Twin Otter floats to create 1/72 Vought O-64 & CSR-103 'Corsaviours'. Airfix Ju-52 floats worked for the Fairey 'Courier'.

Great float-Corsairs!
and, surprisingly, what I prefer is not the floats but the weird windows for passengers in the back

Those are great!  I really like the "Fairey Courier" - to me that's more of a "should-have'been" than a "Whiff", for the Lakes District, or any other 'near water' rescue service world-wide.  :)

Uh, a very nice floaty trio! The Gannet is cool.

Reminds me of some projects of this type on my agenda...
