1972?? I hear you ask....! But 74 Sqn disbanded at Tenagh on the 31st August 1971...?

Well, thats correct and it`s well known that it was another 13+ years before 74 reformed and got their F-4J(UK)`s.

However, what isn`t well known is that as with all Sqn disbandments, rumour control took over, and it was widely believed, if not accepted at the time, that the `Tigers` would reform in a matter of months on another type of cat.

Even Doug Tidy, author of `I Fear No Man` wrote at the time that he was looking forward to possibly seeing these two cats merge into a `hybrid`.

So, if you haven`t guessed already, scroll down to find out. ;)

In a NATO special scheme, perhaps? ;D
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

.... and based at Coltishall I hope?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Surely a brand new type calls for a brand new camo scheme!

As an aside, That particular box art has always been one of my favorites...but when you look at you have to wonder what caused the explosion in the background since the Jag still has everything hanging, and why would a tactical aircraft at that height in apparently hostile airspace fling the brakes out??  ;D
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

He's got a little close to his wingmans expoits, the eplosion has obscured his view & he's realised he needs to scrubs some speed quickly so he doesn't overshoot?

Looking forward to seeing what you do TC!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

You guys.........

Sorry chaps, but for once I`m going to be a tad serious and build this as an operational aircraft and scheme fitted with weapons of the day. (Although being based at Coltishall sounds about right).

This is part of a wider project I`m doing with the 74 Sqn association so it can`t be too `out there`. ;)

Pretty much made a good start on this as it`s pretty simple in it`s construction. No head aches so far.

Not to mention why an RAF Jaguar's carrying Matra Magics......

Still, at least the rocket pods arn't empty, which is a hugely common mistake...

Still looking a little `moist`, the first layer of `finest green` has been applied.

If your wondering why the lack of updates on this......, well...., I had a bit of a set back........,

No real idea why this happened , although I think I can make a reasonable guess, so I`m going to have to strip it all back down and start again. Once I`ve calmed down that is.... :banghead:

uhhh. wtf?!.....

Always think that it would take way more time to start from zero....
I had this with my F-104...
Head up and carry on.
Alcohol (not to drink ) or some weak thinner and cleaning everything, thats the way.
The carpet monster took it!

For enamels, I use Mr Muscle oven cleaning spray. Spray item well, put in sealed plastic box (or bag), leave over night and then rinse under tepid water, perhaps with som tooth brush assistance.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Thanks for the tip. I`ll give it a go and see what happens.

This is now more a restoration rather than a new build so looking forward to trying to work my magic on it.
