PR19_Kit

This 3 day project came about because I'm working on the PR19b for Cosford 2012.

As this version uses the full size TF-33 engines from the DB RB-57F conversion kit I'm left with quite a lot of left over bits, and two of these are the little P&W J-60 auxiliary engines. Another 'Eureka Moment', just like that which resulted in the first PR19 umpteen years ago, and I could see this teeny-weeny engine with wings attached etc.

So I chopped up some 30 thou styrene for the wings and tip fins, trawled through my vast stock of 1/144 SHAR's for the wheels and cockpit and the result is below. Decals, what there are of them, are home printed RAF lo-vis stuff. Its name obviously derived from its small size, it's just over 1.5" long, compared to the 'Global Hawk' and 'Local Hawk'.  ;D

Cooo, looks like a Boeing Scan Eagle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_ScanEagle).

So where does the payload go then, Kit?  ;D ;D

Wow, I'd never heard of a 'Scan Eagle' before this, it's a remarkably similar solution to the same problem. I bet theirs cost more though.  ;D

The ZX81 and the power supplies go in the bulge on the top and the Instamatic 126 fits in between the two u/g leg attachment points. That's why the wheels retract forwards.

Please ensure the colours are right on the £4 note this time, they wouldn't accept the last one you passed off on me........  ;)

Well, General Atomics must have been working on their Predator C/Avenger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Atomics_Avenger) around the time I built my 'Failsworth Falcon' (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,19428.0.html), but I don't recall their people calling my people to swap ideas.  By the way, photos of mine were out before photos of their's!  ;D ;D

I've never seen your 'Failsworth Falcon' before, that's AWESOME!

And I do see what you mean about the Predator C being a remarkable resemblence to the Falcon. Perhaps Menwith Hill may have something to do with this un-intended 'data transfer'??
