No pic's ...... because I haven't started, yet, but I will tonight.

A Challenger I of the Corps of Her Majesty's Royal Australian Marines Tank Regiment ca. 2005. :thumbsup:

Note: I'm working on the history for this but the RAMTR is actually only of battalion strength, however, it is structured for rapid expansion & is organised as a regiment. This format is carried throughout the RAM's (which is an odd marriage of traditional RM & post-Vietnam USMC influences).

I figured this theme needs some heavy metal, dudes! :tank:

:cheers:

Guy.

PS: kit is a 1/35 Tamiya Challenger 1.

Believe it or not I am working on this, albeit very slowly.

I'm in a bit of a modelling slump at the moment. So, although I don't actually have to force myself to come here or to work on my build, the desire to do so is less frequent than I'd like.

Therfore, until I break out of the doldrums, don't expect too many updates.

:cheers:

Moving forward .....s.....l.....o.....w.....l.....y..... I have started the paint job (the build isn't finished, yet, but there were things that needed painting first).

Actually, I think I may have gone slightly mad, 'coz it's a 6-colour scheme with 3 browns & 3 greens, but I think it actually looks pretty good.

I'll see if I can get time to take some pic's tomorrow & you can all tell me exactly where I stand on the Ga-Ga (no, not Lady Gaga - that's just weird) Scale of loopiness. ;D

:cheers:

ohhhhh colorfull. Certainly makes a change from the British black/green or desert sand.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Size (of the stash) matters.

Wow. That's certainly effective at breaking up the outline! The question is, what terrain does that match?

Australian and SE Asia

Looks the part Old Wombat and a Australian branch of the Royal Marines is a cracking idea, kinda surprised that their isn't one  :o.
It should give you an intersting angle to go at as you can cover all mediums of Air, Land & Sea  :thumbsup:

Thanks, guys! :bow:

... &, yeah, Thorvic's pretty-much right Australian/SE Asia region. :thumbsup:

Also, as demonstrated by an earlier build, the stark colours will be toned down & blended by washes, dry-brushing & weathering effects.

Before;

After;

Although I don't intend to make this build as heavily worn as the above the colours will mellow out quite a bit I think.

More proof that things are moving - even if they are doing so rather sporadically & not always in a positive direction.

Some of you may be able to spot the few mod's for the Aussie Marines.

Still quite a way from being finished at current speed.

Thanks, ... um ... Chris?

Anyway, I was trying for a faded-paint look using a hairy stick but ended up with a dusty look, instead - could have been worse.

I might try oils next time but I'm a little concerned about the drying time.

Ahh, I see how the colours work now - they were rather garish before the fading. That's looking rather good. :thumbsup: What's the white thing on the back of the bustle?
