last one from my old builds. then i will start a new "What If" and start a build tread.
built this from an Airfix Bristol Mk32 super freighter. had to do rather alot to make it a short nose/small tail Mk 31
but it was worth it!

so the story goes!
boscombe down had been using the freighter for many years. but finding spares for the engines were becoming hard..
so she spent more and more time parked on the ramp "gone tec"!!
problem was, the freighter was very good at what she did!! hall over size freight/ loads around all the uk RAE sites!
so some bright spark worked out that seeing as there were a mass of spare Rolls Royce tyne turbo props  (as fitted to there  Britannia ) to be had, the engining school took it upon themselves to convert the old girl to run the Turbo props :thumb:
it worked.. better than thay had hoped. the Turbo freighter as she became known, was able to cruse faster, for longer. had a shorter talk off and landing run!
she was given an up to date coat of paint. and cared on serving the A&AEE at boscombe down till the early 80s.. when wing spar issues grounded her..
she was sold, and re spared and flow on in Canada for main years.

well that's my take on it.. a "what if" TURBO Freighter
all the mods were scratch built, using parts from the spares box.
hope you like..

and just to give an idea of how big thay were, her an islander parked next to it! :O

Wow, Nice idea, modern and light engines to take more waist and carry it farther .

The thing that's really incredible is that no-one did it before! In model form or for real.

Nice one Buzzer.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It looks so right it's unbelievable!

And Kit is bang on the money with that comment.  WHY hasn't anyone thought of that before?

I had a similar idea on the cards for ages, I just never got around to it  :banghead: Altou I was planning on using Garrets from a heritage SAAF Turbo dak rather than RR Tynes or Darts.
I always hope for the best.

That is very nice
and lots of nice little details like the creep marks on the tyres!
make it all the more believable.

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

That would be the CL-44 Yukon, Britannias were powered by the Proteus.

But a stunning conversion and I'm surprised too, that no one has done one before, will definitely have to rectify that ---- right ?

Top banana!
And as he others say - why hasn't been done before??  There are some whifs out there  - Narses 2's Finnish Hs123 springs immediately to mind - that are really obvious candidates for whiffery in retrospect it's a mystery why they haven't been done before and this really is one.
Now how about that that non-autogyro Rotodyne.....(which is a long-standing, copyrighted idea of mine!)
