T-33 for the RAF ideas?

The new PLatz T-33 kit has got me thinking about how I could incorporate the T-33 into my 'alternative' RAF.

Most obvious is that the RAF order Canadian-built Silver Stars as an alternative to the Vampire T11 - but I'm open to other ideas as well.

'46 scenario, RAF receives the P-80 on lend-lease.  Some T-33's stay on charge after the war is over.

Makes sense to me. Maybe they go on to use armed ones in Kenya, Malaysia etc..

Perhaps the RAF adopt it because they have a change of policy and decide they like tandem seating rather than side-by-side, so they buy the T-33 as a quick fix, but in an echo of the F-4M saga, they decide to "British-ise" it by licence-producing their own version with a Goblin or Nene engine to raise the UK content and reduce the foreign currency expenditure.

Wow - I honestly didn't know that!    Fits right into the times then: Canadair Sabres for the RAF, Avon Sabres for Aus, Nene Shooting Stars for the RAF.....

Navalised variant for Carrier traineg for the FAA, FRADU target tugs, Drone aircraft for targets etc

How about silver with yellow trainer bands, or Light Aircraft grey and Dayglo orange trim (both with CFS badges), then retired from training and in use as "Hacks" for senior officers at one of the Communication Sqn's (oportunity for personalised A/C) like using initials for code letters or Painting Light Blue (A.V.M. Robb) all over Dark green (A.V.M. Atcherley). Or in use as a Navigation trainer with No. 1 ANS at Thorney Island (Silver/dayglo or Dk. green/grey camouflage with silver underside and Dayglo trim)
Just some randome thoughts.

Arm it and use for close air support or a FAC.

Actually, the early T-33's were armed. They were originally intended as TF-80's and retained two 50 cal machine guns in the nose along with bomb racks and rocket attachments on the wings. Some of these were still being flown as fighter lead-in a/c by the USAF well into the 70's.  (How do I know? Because I was flying them in 72-73.)

Been there with an RAF T-33, using the Hasegawa abortion.  Hated it every step of the way.
