Picked up the 1978 issued example at a show, everything is there but the decals. Anybody make them?

There's loads of Spitfire Mk 1 decal schemes around, Almark did maybe 4-5 and I think Xtradecal have the rights to them now. I have one or two sets if they're of any use?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks Kit, I'll have a look around, maybe one of our local shops will have a catalogue and I can browse.

I'll have some from more recent boxings if you get stuck

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'll keep that in mind Chris, I would prefer to get it done 'all Airfix' if possible. Believe it or not, I've never built this classic kit, so it will be the first non-whif I've done since re-entering the hobby.

I have a set from the new Mk1, and from the old "BT-K" Spit (blue plastic, bagged kit) as well, if you want them.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Offhand:
Xtradecal do a dedicated Mk 1/II sheet
Sky have a sheet for early Spitfires
Model Alliance also do an ealy Spifires

Keep it all Airfix?  Buy the new tool Mk 1/Mk IIa kit.  Build the new tool as the early one and use the other bits on the kit you've got as a mk IIa.  And you've still got spare parts left over (large oil cooler for the V and spare exhausts).

Simples!

If it's the snap fit one, delete ALL of the snap fit lugs/locating pins (ESPECIALLY the wing mount ones on the fuselage) as they ruin the fit.  In addition, sanding down the mating face of the lower wing will improve the fit.

Sounds like a plan!
