Oooh yes, the He162 'VolksFliegenBoot' is just wonderful!

Well, I'm a bit partial to the 229.................

That 162 idea is very interesting. Give that retractable outrigger floats like on the PBY and that would be the sleekest bird in the flock- maybe the fastest.

...if the wings stayed attached in the turns!  :-\

Well, if the conflict had not happened or was curtailed in that timeline, then ersatz glue might not have happened either! And if used on hardware that will get wet.... :o

Loving the Horton.
Looks like it belongs under the water!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Lovely!

How's your stock of floats and gold paint

;D

Kind of like the Seaview's Minisub!

While I'm always up for anything Flying Wing, somehow the floats just don't click. Thinner floats with hydrofoils that can retract to the body of the plane would be better.

But in the context of the race and design rules for them, using the same universal float design among all the contestants to emphasize the airframes as the variables had/has its place.

cheers chaps

as you might have guessed by now I like floatplanes, oh & that gold paint, which applies really well when you mostly brush-paint  ;D

I remember VTTBOTS Seaviews minisub, maybe they got the idea from the Horten? It also looks a bit like a Stingray

I like that hydrofoil idea for the 229, RussC   I'll have  to research hydrofoil history & how to make/find some

Just Google 'Convair Sea Dart' and you'll have it all.

The Sea Dart was the only sea/floatplane to ever go supersonic, which says it all for a racer I guess. The skis are dead easy to model, just slightly cambered flat plates really. But they'll need long, and possibly complex struts to retract properly.

the Sea Dart is cool  only snag the MACH 2 kit is £20+

I just missed a 1/72 Fairey Delta 2 on ebay, that would be great with floats & has the 1956 Air Speed Record

The other snag is that it's a Mach 2 kit.....  :o

I have one and it's so-so, as usual with Mach 2.
