Is it just me?

I HATE and DETEST all that darn sanding, and the operative word is the 'R' in 'PSR', it just goes on and on and ON!  :banghead: :banghead:

I do the bestest job I can on all the engineering and the first round of PSR and then I prime spray the model. It looks TERRIBLE, and I start all over again with the PSR stuff. On two models I'm working on at the moment I'm up to the SIXTH round of prime, putty, sand and prime again. It's driving me nuts!!!!!  :banghead:

No, you're wrong.  Vigourous sanding is excellent for getting rid of anger.  Just take it out on whatever you're sanding.

I don't mind sanding - not for nothing was I dubbed "The Sandmaster" - it's masking I hate.

I find that slinging the model against the wall is best for getting rid of anger, but it usually totals the model and I have to start all over again.  ;D

As for vigourous, at my age I don't do ANYTHING vigourously, except perhaps riding one of my bikes as if I don't ride them like that I'll never get back up the hill to home! My PSR work tends to be more on the light side actually, while trying to see if I've sanded off enough of the excess putty or to ensure I don't sand too hard and form depressions in the model itself.

What! To power a Molton bike?

It'd have to be darn small to get into some of the spaces I've been sanding this week!

And yes, you probably could modify one to power a Moulton, but I'd probably trip over the power cable trailing behind me.......  ;D

Herr Kit - why not try the electric toothbrush idea ?

Must admit it's my least favourite part of the build process, favourite is probably putting the transfers on and watching a model come to life

As far as PSR goes I get the kit to a standard I'm happy with and that's that. Stopped trying to achieve immaculate finishes ages ago, it was starting to spoil my enjoyment of the hobby. If I'm happy then that's fine by me.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Please expand on that idea. Sounds like using one with a different head as a mini-power sander?

Haven't tried it , but it looks to be practicable and cheap !

For the Hand Powered Mk I version , I took an old (non electric) toothbrush , glued (used superglue) a rectangular styrene piece on the back of the toothbrush (i.e. the side without bristles) , stuck a piece of double sided tape , and on the double sided tape a piece of sanding paper.

Basically 2 tools in 1 , sanding and brushing

Elegantly simple...methinks I'll be trying it at some point.  Because, yeah, I can't stand PSR-itis either

Invariably I discover a problem, after I've finished and started painting.  It annoys me when I spot it but later I usually just shrug and go on, knowing that I'm the only one who'll closely examine them so therefore they're good enough.

Mkhulu, I like that idea, thanks for the link. I just happen to have one of those oscillating toothbrushes in my bathroom too. I may try a few experiments, when Mrs. PR19 isn't looking if course.  ;D

The Wooksta!

I'm going to have a look for one of those.  They could be rather handy, especially with all them Ventura Spitfires and resin kits I have stashed away.
