another one to keep you "what if,ers" happy ;D
take one Airfix Islander that i made last year, but was never really happy with.

cut the wings in 3 .

and swap the engines from one side to another. to give you an engine that sits on top of the wing rather than underneath!

once tacked on it looks like this.

high level engine to give prop clearance.
on to the fuselage. cut a grove, and add a bit of  scrap sprue to make a keel.

filler sand and shape.

and its starting to look something like an Amphibian  Islander

Mossie

My first thought on reading the title was that it might be a swap of the floats from the Matchboc Twotter kit.

Much more windswept & interesting this one!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Having flown many times in an Islander, all I can say is Oh He11 my fet will get wet, very wet.

As Jim says, you're going to need some SERIOUS door seals on the umpteen doors that an Islander has!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nice project!

There really was a scheme to make an amphibious flying-boat Islander: a company called Ross were working on it in the mid-1990s. Got as far as a 1/5th scale flying model. David Thurston, who designed the Skimmer that led to the Lake LA-4, was involved with it.

Brill idea and what great timing!  I've a cunning plan for a whif small flying boat or amphibian (not sure which yet) that involved my seeking out a cheapo (or scrap) Walrus and grafting its planing hull onto a certain land plane.  But you've given me an idea how to do it another way.  Many thanks and looking forward to the finished product.
