Hi All,

As the title says, I'm looking for 1/72 pilots in high altitude pressure suits.  U-2, SR-71, MiG-25/31 or others, standing or sitting, I don't mind.

Cheers!

Simon.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks Geoff, they may do.  I'm trying to create the Windak suit. The face panel would need a little work but the suit is a largely a blank canvas which is a good thing, I can bring out the details with milliput or such.

Had a look at my Revell Mig-31, but the pilots are pretty standard, G-suits and bonedomes with oxygen masks - I don't think they'd be much use, sorry.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Just for reference, this is what I'm trying to re-create.  It's the Windak high altitude pressure suit built by Baxter, Woodhouse and Taylor Ltd.  Had the RAF got into high altitude such as the Avro 730, or even space, this is probably what the crews would have worn.  It consisted of a rubberised silk bonded to a fabric outer layer.

Fortunately, there's a lot of info on the net because when the RAF no longer needed the suit, the few production versions ended up as film props.  They cropped up in Dr Who, The First Men in the Moon & even Star Wars (Bossk).  The X-Wing pilot suit while not a Windak, seems to have been influenced by it with a similar jerkin.

I've had a look and I've nothing like that in the pilot box Mossie
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Duncan, cheers mate!  PM incoming.

Mossie......according to the net the suit was also worn by an extra in the cantina scene in Star Wars.....found this on a star wars site when I googled Bossk as I couldn't remember which one he was......

A standing figure which might be suitable is in the 72 Revell shuttle kit, seated, as Dunc mentions the Monogram (Revell) SR.71 kit, iv had a look at other 'space suited' figures eg X.15, astronauts etc but all seem to have coveralls over the pressure suit

cheers, Joe

Cheers Hank!  Yeah, Bo Shek I think his name is, the guy who introduces Obi Wan to Chewbacca.  He's only in it for a breif moment.  From what I can get off the net, there were at least three suits doing the rounds on the prop circuit, a blue one (probably Bo Shek's), a yellow one (Bossk's) & a pale tan one.  A black one is often described, although I think this may be the blue one viewed in certain light or film.

Thanks Joe.  I see what you mean, most of the space suited figures have that 'fat' look.  Duncan's sending me his Blackbird crew  so I'll see what I can do with those, if I have trouble I'll see if I can hunt down the Space Shutte figures.

I have the Monogram version of the SR-71 and an X-15.  If you need more, PM me.  I usually make them landed anyway.

Hi there, just making that shuttle kit at the moment! - I don't think the chap wants the crew in it.  Shall I see what I can dig out?

Phil, DJ, I'll probably take them all off your hands, I'm sure that I can cobble something together from all of them! PM's on the way.
