Pondering giving it an Avenger canopy so they can see over the engine nacelles.

Still searching for a suitable new name marine insects are few and far between.

The De Havilland Water Boatman doesnt sound very threatening.

How about the DeH Corixidae?

Or maybe, Esox.
Alle kunst ist umsunst wenn ein engel auf das zundloch brunzt!!

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Nice idea.  I was going to suggest puting a kink in the wings to get the engines higher above the water.  But then visability to the sides would be a problem.  Would really make it look different.

Daphnia?

Water fleas aren't really insects but crustaceans ... but they are small and live in the water.

Won't there be floats (with wheels for the amphibious way) to raise the propellers above the waves?
(This is not at all a reproach: I love the idea of propellers acting as marine screws for the start, before the nose is raised up by speed ;D )

Thanks everyone.

Not sure if it's obvious but the new lower hull is from a supermarine Walrus

Have decided to shorten the nacelles as they don't need the extra room for the wheels and go with the Avenger glazing.

It will probably end up as the World's ugliest De Havilland.

Even if this will would not be a beautiful silhouette, this will beautifully complete the Mosquito family... ;)

From Wikipedia:

"Gerridae is a family of true bugs in the order Hemiptera, commonly known as water striders, water bugs, magic bugs, pond skaters, skaters, skimmers, water scooters, water skaters, water skeeters (emphasis, mine), water skimmers, water skippers, water spiders, or Jesus bugs."

I know these insects as "water striders", mosquito-looking bugs that walk over still waters, DENTING the surface but not breaking it. I hadn't known they also went by the name "water skeeters", but  if the shoe fits....!!!!!!

I like the idea of an "amphibious Mosquito", but I think Tophe and Kerick had a point about propeller diameter and the nearness of the water. If you could "kink" the inner wing up a bit, I think you would have a winner!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

But the pilots need to see something.

Retractable center float, like in the Bill Barnes Silver Lancer would be cool but might be difficult in real life.

Contrarotating props of small diameter? Six blade props of small diameter?
