I've made a little progress on Photoshop.  A least I have the outline of the bird.  I took a pic on a plain white background and used the "find edges" command to, well, find the edges.  Convert to b&w, a little removing of clutter and I got this.

I did this for three views so I can get the whole pattern.  Next is to try applying colors and patterns.

I've been adding some lumps and bumps for RHAW gear and such.  Not much to photograph.  I'll be out of town for a week so I may take along some copies of the PS outlines and play around with some collored pencils and such.  Getting close to painting time.  I'm torn between airbrush or manual brushing.  I have always used enamals.  Seems to build up too thick when brushing.  Any suggestions for thinning or delaying the drying time?

I use Humbrol enamels & use their enamel thinners for most applications, rather than straight out of the tin, or, sometimes, mineral turpentine (which seems to take a smidge longer to dry).

Mixed properly both seem to give good, even (thin) finishes.

Hope that helps.

Thank you sir for suggesting to Kerick.

Thanks for the suggestion! I want to use a gloss paint if possible to avoid overspraying with gloss. It always darkens the colors. Not much action here as I am up to my eyeballs in classes and work. Maybe next month when the classes are over I can get a little done. I always bogg down at painting time.

I've been pondering the paint scheme and I'm leaning towards three tone grey, sort of Marine style. Gunship grey on top, a light grey on the sides and very light on the undersides. I'll probably just buy some Testors gloss grey, white and black and mix my own colors. I'v got some left over A-10 or Marine decals that might just work.

w/some additional color contrasts added maybe.

The Marine version doesn't show up very well in photos depending on the light. I'll make sure there is visible contrast.

I just figured out that the interior floor is about six scale feet of the ground. I need some sort of steps or boarding ladder to get the troops in and out. I'm thinking of a platform or ledge about half way. Any suggestions?

ouch,
fast roping would require no obstruction so would say an off-set from the main door, maybe a pull down retractable tree ladder.
