Would they fit outboard of the remaining engines?  One guy says "Any aircraft can be improved with longer wings". I say "The more engines the better"! ;)
"Just which planet are you from again"?

Its already tight between the remaining engines and the Viking turbofans.  To add more engines I'll have to go above the existing.  Maybe a sea king config.

What would be wrong w/ 6xonboard engines, 2xexternal,  8 total?  Added sea king config engines could feed the CRW

More engines and more wings

Conformal is key but the appearance of high total mass flow is also key thus alluding to high speed.
the complexity of more engines may be bad and look bad as adding drag.  :banghead:
may take some thought.

Well I'm back in the working world for the summer so back to slow progress.  I have to consider the engine options. It may stay as is so that I can move on to other parts.  The patch job came out pretty well so I think i'll stay the course.  I know I promised pics ... soon, my friends, soon.

Thank you very much!
I have patched the hole from the front engines.

This shows the rotor hub housing in its place.  It has been sanded and glued down since the pic was taken.

Its getting there.

Wow cool, it appears there is an center conformal intake and exhaust for CRW anyway.

I was thinking of cooling air for the transmission and hub.
I brushed on some ghost gray on all the puttyied and sanded areas to check for flaws.  The area around the hub looks "lumpy" so it will get more attention.  Of course the nose gear broke off while sanding so had to repair that.  Reinforced it with a piece of straight pin.  Some general cleanup of little flaws to do then start attaching details and a/c greeblies.

Rotor hub is all cleaned up now.  I can't decide how to go about the sensors.  I could go with Lantirn pods or Apache/Super Cobra nose turrets.  I'll probably go with ECM pods hung under the former A-10 wheel wells.  Or maybe a Long bow radar on the mast.

..would only vote against Lantirn as the 2060 timeframe would have something that big being a full HighEnergyDEW.  <_<

kerick

That's part of the problem.  Look at the evolution of radar, optical, laser, thermal, etc. devices out there compared to 30 years ago.  In 50 years would sensor and targeting devices even be recognizable as such?  All I can do is make something that looks "cooler" yet is still recognizable as having a purpose.  Food for much thought.

You are absolutly right. Would imagine, at least, RF and light based as well as active & passive sensor/weapons heads would all be combined and guns probably some form of Electro-Magnet + Thermal Chemical.. the EMTC of lor.

kerick

I could go future tech but then have to explain everything to viewers.  Maybe just slide the timeframe back to 2025 or so.  That way folks will recognize a Maverick missle or a sensor turret.  That is only the people who would recognize them anyway.
