Well got the fuselage done and have got distracted by a book "Tsar Bomba". Lots of odd and obscure real world planes. Like radio controlled Yak-9V's with a Tu-2 mothership.

So I am thinking the radio control kit would go into the rear cockpit to allow the plane to be flown to it's operational base. But the radiation levels will mess up the electronics - so what if the rear cockpit was shielded with metal foils - this allows me to use the single cockpit canopy I have. Also these planes were fitted with "simple" air filters to sample the mushroom cloud. I was thinking a rocket under each wing trimmed down to a simple tube.

Eventually they found they could not safely land  the Yaks so that idea was abandoned and manned aircraft flew through the cloud.  Li-2's and Il-28's being used with the Il's having an overpressure systen built into them. I was thinking of using the recce version of the a/c with air samplers and monitors in the wing tip tanks. The US equipment about the time was quite bulkey (see Wb-29's).

Do these ideas sound reasonable? I know they are not true Wifs but there are few photos to work from.

Thanks - I have done a few wifs from described planes with no pics before. Like this idea for a group build of 1

Went back to the Su-7 and have got the wings on, will need more PSR and trying to decide on the missile armarment. As it's a later version I think it will get Attolls in both IR and SARH. It still has guns as well so should be enough, and it fits with the radar fit.

Actually got some modelling done. Under carriage on the Su-7 and am considering doing it in EAF "Nile" Scheme.

Just finished isolation K is staying with us and I appear to have got him into WW2 Japanese aircraft. He's made a good job of a Hayate and a Grace.

So K's Grace, Frank and Vampire (done as a Turkish Wif) are in our clubs display cabinet. Got an Argentine Su-22M2 finished, after it fought me every inch of the way. Works on the premise that as Peru sent mirage 5's to make up combat losses - what if they had sent a volunteer force with their early Sukhoi's? Just a thought. Going back to the Su-7P in a bit. But have seen an article on RAAF F-104A's - - - - hmmmm.

I was wondering if the Proposed Boeing-Dassault Mirage based F-5 offering had been adopted. Would the 5A not have a reheat (afterburner) and therefore not need the intake cones like Spinners A-11, (page 109 of Spinners thread)? That would mean a basic Mirage III/5 with radar would be the F-5E - or am I overthinking this???

Well I have finally finished something - A Boeing-Dassault F-5A Freedom Fighter of the Hellenic air force, in an overall blue/grey (gray?).

Planning a Turkish one with the Neshers Hi-Viz panels to avoid ID confusion.
