They've got other things in orbit looking back downwards...

But is it "downwards" from space ?  ;)

I appear to be in an "Arse, both hands negative outcome situation!"

So I have given up on finding the -104's fuselage it will turn up when it wants to. Started an Airfix 1/72nd, Mig-17F goes together well. Just need to build the drop tanks, and then I canpaint it tomorrow. Will be Argentinian FAA with the under wing Sakr rockets. Wondering about an AAR probe for the Malvinas operation. Might put one from an F-100 on it? Any thoughts?

NARSES2

What would it refuel from ?

C-130?

Buddy-buddy system or Tu-16 tanker.
This is a timeline where Peron goes left not right during Harold Wilson's premiership.
In real life the Soviets offered the Mig-15s and Il-28s in payment for beef exports.
No task force - Wilson goes to International Court instead and loses.
So build list of Pt-76, and BTR-50 of naval infantry.
BTR-60P and PB plus T-55s for army.
Mig-17 and Mig-21
Mi-4 and Mi-8
Possibly An-8 or An-12

and of course Soviet Bears refueling at Puerto Argentino prior to returning to Cuba.

NARSES2

Interesting scenario Geoff

Thanks - just not sure how to get the Migs to the islands.
They can be trans shipped and re built at the airport.
I was wondering about AAR probes on the underwing drop tanks similar to that used by early US jets and recently IDF planes.
Or AAR probes like Lightning or F-100
Tu-16s acted as tankers with wingtip to wingtip probe and drogue set up. But I was thinking a removable bomb bay mounted system designed and built in Argentina which could only re fuel one a/c at a time. So a tanker flight and a bomber flight of Tu-16s.
As you can see I have been over thinking this for a while.

They could ship them over on the Veinticinco de Mayo.  Gives you an excuse to navalise your MiG...

But most of those are owned by the other, three letter agencies.

Or as deck cargo on freighters.

Yes I was going with the deck cargo route. But was then wondering what operated off the 25th May. Mind you many years ago I did do navalised Mig-15s. Hmm L-29 with a hook anyone?

Of course they would still have some operational Panthers for deck operations, and they would give aircover while the Migs are transferred to the islands.

Geoff

So I have finished the Argentine Mig-17. I used a straight AAR probe from an F-100 under the right wing. I am quite pleased with the result.

Started a Hungarian Mig-15 as a Wif as the Italeri box art shows an early Fagot A. These were supposed to replace the Il-10 ground attack a/c but were cancelled due to the '56 rebellion, and then they got Mig-15bis' later. On opening box it's a bis, so a real life build.
However I have a couple of 1/144th Fagot A's so at least one should get built.
