Hi, new here, so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I've got half a dozen TSR2'S in my stash to complete
Problem is , i can't find anyone who supplies metal undercarriage legs as the kit ones may not suffice.

ANY one know who (if anyone ) makes them or has a ready supply?

Thanks

Try contacting Heritage Aviation, they did a resin TSr2 which had metal gear and Ian may be able to run you off some new legs, but they will need to be adaped to fit the Airfix kit.

I have a set of Aeroclub 1/72 TSR2 u/c too, that comes with wheels (which I think are still available through John Adams), but they too were geared towards the Resitech kit. I can tell you though they seem to be a bit bigger than what comes in the Airfix kit, not drastically bigger like being 1/48 scale or so, just a bit bigger

My Merlin 'TSR2 kit' (this phrase used in its WIDEST possible sense! :banghead:) came with white metal landing gear. They look pretty good and are remarkably strong but I'm  not sure who made them, possibly Aeroclub also?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

You can always just put brass rod through the kit parts to reinforce them if you're that worried.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Ihave one set of white metal legs from t'interweb, they look too large to me, but as you say they may be Merlin ones.
They look a little 'basic' but over-scaled to me.

I'll see how the kits ones work on the first incarnation.

Have you ever tried building your own u/c legs, like this below.

I made a number of separate parts out of very small diamter aluminum & plastic tubing.

Which when put together looks like this,

This is in 1/72 scale.

Relative novice matey, no way i'd even contemplate that sort of detailled work.
Well not until i retire and that's way off. :tornado:

What are you planning to do that the kit parts won't suffice?

darthspud

with the amount of resin replacements, bomb bay weapons etc , i'm not sure the kit u/c will hold the weight

underwing fuel tanks from either a buddy pack from an A6 or fuel tanks from a tornado.
Overwing launcher a la Jaguar, Iron bombs from the Hasegawa weapons sets, tip mounted Sidewinders, possibly twin racks.
One version will mount Mavericks and associated radars and equipment.
Thinking of doing a Swedish variant, but that's in the pre pre planning stages.

I have a cunning plan chaps - lets get a world record!
...
...
...
Worlds heaviest TSR2 model (by aftermarket parts)!!

Simply put, who has been insane enough to almost completely replace virtually the entire kit with expensive resin / metal add-ons!  (Which leads to the next record - most money spent on said kit!)

Come on guys - get the weighing scales out... :drink:

I dunno if it'll get the weight record, but with all the resin/white metal add on's in place of kit parts you can bet that it'll end up on Dyperscale as an exam ple of how it should be done...
