How about the gun in an under-fuselage fairing and the ammo where the back seat was, the installation being generally similar to the GSh-23 ones seen on late MiG-21s and L-39ZAs?

The slipper tank guns as a standard fit and the rear pilot replaced by a fuel tank would be more sensible.  Replace used pod with fully armed for a quicker turnaround.  This way, you've a centreline free to carry a bomb.  Or a cluster bomb and the outer hardpoints carrying the rockets.  Then you've a cheap, lightweight ground attack aircraft.  One of those in Indian markings would look good.

I doubt whether there's clearance under the centreline of a Gnat for a bomb of any size, but you could certainly slip a gun in there.

Good idea, Wooks....gunpods on the wings and fuel in "seat 2" position....like it.

Recess the bomb?

Extend the undercarriage?

But then you'd have to make the fuselage longer to take in the longer legs. The joys of airframe design..........  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

An idea.  Clearly a number of Gnat builds either underway or completed (including my own), so rather than steal TallEng's build thread would it not be better (and better mannered?) to start a 'themed build' Gnat thread?  That's essentially what's happening here anyway.

Unless TallEng is happy with the way this thread is going, of course - in which case should the whole thread be moved to the theme build repository?

Just a thought.  ;D ;D

I wish I could even SEE a Gnat!  :banghead:

No model shop I've been anywhere hear has them, almost everyone sold out in hours and Airfix haven't been forthcoming with a 2nd batch.

If the concensus is you'd like a Gnat theme build then let me know and I'll set it up. For Kit we could include a theme think section  ;D

Well, to be honest I don't mind, you could move this thread to the Themed Build repository, or start a Themed build for the Gnat. What ever would seem
to be the best (or get the most people interested) assuming that they can still get hold of a Gnat ;D

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Right I've set up the Themed Build for the Gnat

I'll leave this thread here for the time being.
