A while back, I got a job lot of built kits (all in "glue bomb" state for a tenner of of eBay. One of them, was an early release of the airfix Concorde, the one which was based on the prototypes. I intended to rebuild it, however, it was in such a bad state (warped and glue everywhere) that i gave up.

However, yesterday, I came across the following image :

I've always liked the old style shorter tail, and when i had a look through my kit stash, what did I find? An unbuilt Airfix Concorde, and a the model described earlier. Upon examination, the tail wasn't in too bad condition, compared to the rest of the model.

I then found this, left over from a revell SST kit, which i built in BA livery, leaving these redundant.

So, without further ado, I started. First, I had to cut off the tail sections from each kit, along the line parallel to the bit where the elevons attach to the wing (frame 72) :

After alot of sanding and filling, here is what it looks like:

I used the old nozzles from the glue bomb kit, and added them to the new engine nacelles :

And then, to make this a real "whif" i decide to change the main landing gear. I took the side strut from the normal one and glued it onto the new gear, and the result was that they were the exact same length - spooky eh?

Now, all I have to do is paint a few things such as the landing gear etc, and I'm done! Phew, never done such a quick build !

Veeeery interesting!  ;D

You've essentially modelled Concorde 101, the pre-production prototype now at Duxford, as it's the only Concorde with the short tail and the production type visor and windscreen.

Where did the triple axle main gear from, a 777 perhaps?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Oh yeah, forgot about that! I guess it does quite a bit :)

I think that mine will have a slightly longer forward fuselage, because that was one of the updates to the design of G-AXDN, along with the revised tail.

I don't have a clue where the 3 axle gear came from, I'm afraid, it was in a large box of spares i bought from an antiques market.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Here's a photo update. Wings have been attached, and landing gear dry fitted.
