Like I said above :-

"Which was parked just across from the SIG stand at Cosford last weekend....... "  ;D

Sorry Kit, missed that with all the 'keyboard' talk
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Captain Canada

Keyboard still works and XX765 is still ugly.....so here's an update !

Primered the beast and I hated it. But then it started looking good in overall gray.....then I started thinking RCAF for sure with green added for camo. Then I went and played hockey, got drunk, and looked at it again...cleaned up som bits...

And thought "hmm, I should have another beer and....."

Tossed the landing gear back in the box, glued the doors on, slapped on some stinky putty
and now she's probably gonna be RCN again !

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

One thing for sure : Having one more beer is always the right one !

I'm late to the party, but the Big Wing proposal might be useful for a naval Jag.  A Mirage F.1 wing would probably be close enough, one for another day eh?

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Weaver

I once offered up an Airfix Mirage F.1 wing against a Matchbox Jag one and was disappointed to discover that they're almost the same size!  In all fairness though, the difference between the "big" and regular Jag wing proposals was such that scale errors in the respective kits might explain that, and other combinations of source kits might give a different result.

Capt. Canada: keep plugging away at it!  Small LERX would probably be a good maneuverability mod (worked on the Harrier after all), whereas the big ones on the ACT Jag were deliberately destabilising so that they could test the fly-by-wire's ability to keep it pointing the right way.

So, just a normal day for you then.  ;D

Bugger.  I guess you could add some extra span with a bit of plastic card sanded to shape.

Captain Canada

Thanks for the comments and info guys ! I didn't know that about the test Jag until I did a little research, I thought it was for lift and manouverability !

The thought of making the wing bigger never crossed my mind. I did look at fitting wingtip rails, but it took away to much of the 'Jag' look.

It was pointed out to me at Cosford that one of the Jag 1/72 kits is a whiff straight out of the box because the cockpit is in entirely the wrong place, can't recall if it's the Matchbox or the Airfix one?
It'd be interesting to build and compare them.

Weaver

Don't know about the cockpit, but the Matchbox Jag is whiffy because it has extended intake splitter plates than never made it as far as the prototypes, let alone production aircraft. It also has a quartet of bizarre conical "AS-30" missiles which could be whiffed into all sorts of things
