After getting into the whole rotordyne thing with this build a couple of months ago......

........... I was playing with the idea of blending the kits below for my next whif project and updating the idea.

Well, I had a rethink and I felt that it would have had an `old world` look about it and I wanted to look into the future, well...., say 20 years on anyway.

So out has gone the Chinook..........,

..... and in came this......!

............... so it will be a 1/72 Herc fuselage with the 1/48 scale winglets and rotors. This should even it all out a bit when it comes to power/weight ratio.

Coming soon.   ;D

Kinda, but the wings are fixed with just the engine nacelles moving and obviously on a much larger scale....  ;D

Like all inventors/visionists/madmen, I found a few moments today to fit a few bits together with tape to see if this idea really was viable. I think it is, and depending on the reach of the rotors, I may well leave the tail as it is so it keeps it`s heritage looks.

Of course, as you can see, some major surgery is going to be needed to fit that wing.

Can anyone spot the slight problem I might have in the near future....???  :banghead:

So what are my options?

Well, I could adapt the Herc kit`s wings to give me a bit more length? (No sniggering at the back please....)

Or I could extend the Osprey`s winglets?

Or I could pour myself a large JD, watch Match of the Day and sleep on it?

Hmmm, option 3 it is then.

Great concept- I vote for a little more wing to give the proper clearance.

Why not shorten the blades?

I think you would need all the blade you can get.  The Osprey blade  already is heavily loaded.

But it's a 1/48 blade on a 1/72 fuselage........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nice Idea
I'd use the Hercules Wing, (saves having to fair that great lump in the middle) and with a bit of luck
the outer nacelles will be the right position for the Osprey engines.

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Option 3 for me as well, but replace the JD with G&T
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Option 4 -  :banghead: make the fuselage narrower?   ;)

I'm with Narses re option 3 - but make it a Bowmore Legend!
