Believe it or not despite helping out Colin with this project i had never actually built one to date. So with the new year and after putting my ships in dry dock for a while i finally dug out my P1154 and decided to build it. I was going to do it fully armed with the weapons update set Freightdog also did, but then i spotted Vingtor had come out with some Harrier Prototype & Demonstrator decals so i decided to complete the P1154 Harrier as it would have been as a 1970's demonstrator

The last two show the Hawker Siddeley Logo on the tail fin and the Hawker Siddeley Harrier logo on the nose.

It looks excellent!

So when's he going to do a P.1154RN then?  ;)

Well done Geoff. It's a nice kit to build, isn't it?

Mossie

Great job Geoff, although I was expecting you to do it as a RN demonstrator!

I think I see your reasoning here.  I thought the P.1154 was supposed to get the Kestrel name, but the Harrier probably wouldn't have gone ahead had the P.1154 proceded and it's quite likely they'd have changed the name for such a different aircraft?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

As I read it, the P.1154 WAS going to be called a 'Harrier' as 'Kestrel' had already been used for the six P.1127 'production' aircraft. And if the P-1154 Harrier had gone ahead there never would have been any need to build the Harriers that we all know (and love....) nowadays.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yeap Mike Pryce aka (Harrier  ;)) will confirm the P1154 was the original Harrier, when that program was culled in the 1965 purge, they threw hawkers a bone by having the Kestrel configured to become an operational strike aircraft using the smaller & simpler system and carried the Harrier name over.

I did consider an RN demonstrator but their is a possibility of a hybrid version of the Single seater propossed for the RN  eventually coming out which will fit the bill.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
