Sometimes life gets in the way, hey ho.

BUT, should finish the Lanc construction with no probs....just a few bits before priming. It'll be for the BIGGLES SIG in RAF colours, postwar, but slightly "inventive".
Seem to have got the "Let's Build Big Buggers" bug, so I've found out the part-built Airfix Halifax which I'll do possibly French postwar, have the B-17G ready for a USN PB-1 of the Korean War (for Biggles) as well as thinking about a Revell 1/72nd  Junkers Ju-290

I'll probably get the '290 ....French postwar? Italian?? Swiss??

Brilliant.
They've buggered off to work or school....no interuptions so spray painting/priming 3 x 1/48th Sea Furies, a 1/72nd Lancaster, a 1/72nd Boston III......and if I can find my yellow paint, an Air Police Hurricane IIc.

Well, repainted a couple of resin figures....each of female vampires in skimpy clothing. Repainted from the originally supplied "finished" product. I drybrushed to bring out the detail, repainted the flesh, added blood where necessary...etc., etc....each around 6 inches high.

Also,applying decals to a "Beer Wars" much modified F4U-4 in flying configuration. 1/48th scale.
Thinking of doing a much modified P-47D in 1/48th....but using the usual authentic decals.

So, thinking of a 1/48th P-47S "Super-Bolt" with clipped wings/squared off tips, extended nose to create an engine with more cylinders and more importantly, make it look really wicked.

Then, after the WW2 markings on the P-47S, I'm thinging of an F-47T in Vietnam with underwing stores as well a a bloody big engine.

After that.....

Began a steampunked RAF F4U-4B-ish for "Biggles Follows On"....1/48th Academy kit.
Fuselage together, extra-long engine being added, wings done.
It'll be "flying" on the Biggles SIG stand.....might even get to Brampton, along with the steampunked "Beer Wars" Corsair.

The new build is evolving slowly. Life has interrupted recently....but today should be a good one....progress on the 1/48th F4U4-thingy, and also on the 1/48th MiG-27 that's REAL.

RAF participation in the Korean War was limited to Sunderland units operating from Japan, and exchange pilots serving with the RAAF (Meteors) and USAF (Sabres).
The Army used Auster AOP.6 aircraft for reconnaisance and spotting.

The Army units often had RAF pilots and maintenance men attached, and when one unit was based not far from Seoul, itself not far from the North/South divide, a number of the groundcrew, formed from a National Service sextet of men recruited from Arkwright's Engineering Co.Ltd, Bilston....they sought something "extra" to occupy themselves. A redundant,damaged,USMC F4U-4B was "bought" for the usual price....several cases of whiskey....from a USMC Sergeant, and work began. Gradually, an incredible sight appeared from the hidden depths of the main hanger. A totally rebuilt "Corsair" was displayed, with an extra-powerful engine attached to the forward fuselage. New cannon were fitted and extra weapon pylons were attached underwing.
It was with some tripidation that the pilot, Flight Sergeant Eric Cheadle, taxied the aircraft out for a test flight. Apart from some difficulties due to the extra power and long nose, the new "Corsair" was a success. A repaint took place and an all black scheme was chosen for night missions. When viewed, however, it was decided that adding a grey/green upper-surface would be better, and this was done to the upper surfaces and some of the fuselage.
Bombs were scrounged, bought and stolen from the nearby USMC base to enable occasional flights to take place. 25 missions were achieved before the groundcrew deemed it unsafe for further flights after an accident taxying.
Also, a 2-seat version was built by the same unit.

Delay on the steampunk Corsair....still adding pipework, but spraying later as everyone's out.

Steampunk 1/48th Spitfire?? Yes, I think so.

Wings glued to the fuselage...leaving overnight to set the dihedral.
An underfuselage tank will be fitted as well as 4 x HVARs underwing...

Thinking postwar Yugoslavia....I have the decals.....and it might make it onto the BIGGLES SIG stand?? Possibly....

Delay on the Corsair....primed but a cannon fell off.

Delay on the Spitfire....not too much progress today on both because.......
